Morning all,

Anybody know of Honda converters near / around notts?

Seriously considering the plunge,

Cheers

Martin and Steve Edwards (father and son) used to be very popular and well regarded. I know others on here use them for servicing and convesions.

Website is lotuspower.com (I think). There didn't used to be much on the site, no idea if this is still the case.

From experience think long and hard before you decide to go through with it. The end experience is definitely worth it and I wouldn't swap mine for anything, but spend a bit of time in the 'engine conversions' section of seloc to understand the different installs and suppliers before you take the plunge.

And of course feel free to drop me a PM if you ever want any advice from my experience over the last 5 years with the Honda engine :)

Martin and Steve all day, you're not only in good hands Ollie but they genuinely go the extra mile. I've seen this first hand.

I would advise you to have a ride and look over some of the conversions first. IMO they do transform the car from something you could (possibly) take your nan out in, to, well you just have to love 'em. I went out in a SC CC Exige, and missed the extra noise because I was more focused and excited over the SC whine and push. But what took me by suprise in my own car was the extra vibration of the engine that went through the whole car at tickover (put your hand on the front tyre), and the extra noise/excitement when going onto and during cam in WOT.

If you can live with that - don't mind the odd niggle (CV/Tripode Boots on some) then IMO they are awesome. Why oh why oh why didn't Lotus release them like this? And then SC them - holey sh!t. (I know coz Honda refused them at the time)

But its not just the CTR transplant. You will also need to consider:

  • an all ali rad (as the plastic end cap OEM will fail in the first year),
  • a new free-er flowing exhaust & cat (rather than strangle it),
  • I'd recommend upgrading / renewing oem brakes,
  • I'd recommend new upgraded toelinks
  • I'd recommend new dampers too,
  • Consider a different Air filter and/or Silenced cat replacement pipe to keep on cam noise down on track,
  • maybe a geo if going on track
  • an understanding GF when you disappear doing TD's and come home rambling on
  • an even more understanding GF when you break it to her that you are now saving up for a SC

Don't let this put you off .... I'll take you out in mine if I manage to make some of the same meets.
