jonnyfox Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Well worthwhile if tracking your car every now and then, Ohlins. Buy second hand with care just so you get the correct ones and resell at almost the same price you bought them for....... 2 way have recommended settings that are great for road and track. Brakes, geo, adjustable ARB.....happy days.
ollie Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 So if doing a few trackdays the bushes would still be a good idea then. Any particular ones like the Nitron ones. I was looking at the Ohlins 2 way ones they do look very nice. Whats a rough price for those second hand. Which adjustable ARB are people using as well. Thanks
jonnyfox Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 My ARB was from Hanger111 tbh its never moved off full stiff. Depending on mileage very newish £2k+ 36mm Ohlins go from between £1400 and £1200. I sold mine maybe did about 20k over 5 years for £750 well due a refurb but still totally fine Ollie. Don't change the bushes mate, only if a dedicated track car.
ollie Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 So if doing a few track days the ARB is a good idea along with some ohlins or similar. Ill leave the bushes then as its not going to be a dedicated track car. They still fetch good money then for quite high usgae. Thanks for the help Jonny
jonnyfox Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 What the hell happened to my £ signs! I need to edit this..... If you buy a Ducati, Lambo etc or a Lotus what dampers do they upgrade form the norm....OHLINS! Just IMO lol
ollie Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 I was wondering this i was thinking whats he written
G Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 What packs have you got on the car ollie? Touring, Sports? What shocks are fitted are they adjustable billies? RS14's are great pads. I've had RS14, CL6 which are awesome but eat discs which cost a fortune and back to RS14,s, can't fault them. Engine mount bushes stop rock in engine on lift off and gear change is better. Trd filter is cheap now Exhaust, but be careful as track noise limits are getting lower. SC Cars are quite loud. Best mods are a good geo, driver training and book up plenty of trackdays. Martin R Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Ollie get it on track first and see what you like and what suits you. I had stiffish Nitrons on my S1. I hated them. There was no body roll and i found it very hard to tell when it was going to break away. I prefer a small amount of body roll so i can tell what is going on. Think about it, Lotus may just know a small amount about setting a car up as standard? Why mess just for the sake of it? 2 way suspension is a recipe for disaster unless you really know how to adjust them IMO. Fast road Nitrons / Ohlins / will be more than good enough for 6 trackdays a year. If you are going to do 30 a year its a different matter.
DeanB Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Martin makes a good point as usual. Its not just the dampers you have to choose, it's the spring rates - they aren't adjustable! If it was me, I would use the car a bit, do a couple of trackdays and blag pax rides with others who have different set ups, talk to a good specialist, think about it for a bit and then make your choice. I had nitrons on my vx220 and they were brilliant on track, but the springs were too stiff for the road and it spoiled it tbh.

These two way's are easy as there are road, track and race settings as well as good recommended settings sheet I've passed about to various people (not my Guru piece of work I may add). Basically I only ever used three settings for pretty much every track I've been on, wet or dry. If you get stuck, wind back to zero, start again......Voila! They really are easy to use fella's, nothing brave about them. However, having fitted 46mm Ohlins with 425/550 spring rates I asked Aurok what they recommended and they gave me the most perfect setting straight off the bat. I also asked evo off Exiges and he gave me a number of settings which I've never had to use, but the 46mms are that good. Of course I can play but if I do mess it up, I have at point of reference to return. G they are awesome mate, they really are incredible.

jonnyfox Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I was referring to 240R spec 2way Ohlins G, have never tried those.
darryl Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Ill Stick to the OE Bushes then Id love a Full air scoop roof Even more so in Carbon Everything else i kind of have apart from Kermit Green and Chrome orange paint haha Is this one really a must. Exige is made for the loud colour TBTH, gives a bigger grin even when you are only looking agree with smurf thou driver training is a must to get the most out of a Lotus
