Exige Short Rear Diffuser Fitted! (with Pics)

Fitted this afternoon! This was apparently "the very first" custom made Exige style diffuser done for the Elise. The guy I bought it off asked Martin Edwards to make him one which didn't stick out a mile from the back of the car. Apparently this was the prototype and has Lotus decals too.

I think it looks great, but I know it's kind of a matter of personal opinion. What do you think?

Actually I agree, it could probably do with some paint - it was on a silver car before you see. Black would be best I think yes, but not sure how to avoid spoiling the decals...

Gareth, did you paint yours yourself? Just wondering if it's something I could do as I'd rather not pay someone else to do it...

Lotus decals are £9 from a Lotus dealer, ie the same as on the back of any new elise. Infact I think I've got the L T S left over from when I redid mine so if you can find an O and a U

Mind you even cheaper if you cut a template and spray them on yourself

Painting it yourself shouldn't be too dificult. I assume it's ali so you'll need some special etch primer, then some undercoat and a topcoat. Having said that I suspect you could shop around and find some fabricators or bodyshop who would do it at a reasonable price.

I'm all for trying to do stuff myself to be honest. Can I get the primer, undercoat etc from somewhere like Halfords, or do I need to source them from a specialist?

Thanks

Graham

leave the stickers on, then paint it black.

Then remove the stickers to reveal silver letters on black !

Nice idea, though I think the high grab adhesive on the decals would cause problems. I can see me having to scrape them off anyway...

I've got some etch primer (for spray gun), but I think Halfrauds do it in a spray can, they also do a nice satin black!

Cool, I'll check out Halfords

Looks good Graham - good that it doesn't stick out the extra 100mm.

Agree it would look better in black or body colour - on the verticals only. Leave the horizontals (including decals) in raw aluminium?
