  1. Every time I wash the Elise (and Evora) I do a quick run round the block with liberal applications of left foot braking to dry the discs and pads out, before they go back in the garage. Never had any trouble with long pedal or squealing. Def. worth doing for the health of the discs, plus it releases all the trapped water in the bodywork's little crevices (which can then be wiped off so no water marks 🙂). However, I did have a set of Tar.Ox discs on the front of the Evora for a while and they squealed like buggery no matter what pads I tried (was slightly embarrassing in slow moving traffic!!). So I went back to EliseParts cheapest front discs and hey presto, same pads, no squeal. I still have the Tar.Ox discs on the shelf, so might just try a thorough de-grease and try 'em again.

    VIEWING

This is actually an SC which is based on the 2ZZ engine but has a titchy integrated supercharger. It does boost peak power and torque but the engine still needs plenty of revs (aka a lot) to feel the difference. I did own an SC for several years and loved it, but the Elise S that replaced it (with 2ZR and discrete Magnuson supercharger) blows it out of the water.
  3. Looks superb Dave - showroom fresh 👍. Ardent Red is definitely one of the best colours on the Elise (and Exige). When I spec'ed up my Elise S back in 2014, it had to be Ardent Red...
  4. Taxed the Evora this morning after its winter SORN hibernation. Just one more little garage job to do and we'll be ready to go (replacing the knocking front anti-roll bar bushes with Powerflex polyurethane ones).

    Heads-up...

Just a little heads-up for a superb item I have for sale in Classifieds It really is in as-new condition, and would cost well over £1000 new if it was still available from Lotus (which it isn't, of course). I'm open to sensible offers from buddies on MLOC though .
  6. Photography Cycling Lots of DIY - kitchens, bathrooms, en-suites, and... just finished off my latest landscaping project! IT Technology and software development (now retired but my entire career was in this space) Not a hobby as such, but have a very keen interest in theoretical physics and cosmology Again, not a hobby, but am super interested in automotive design and engineering And just for completeness... Favourite sports - MotoGP and World Rally Championship
  7. Evora still SORNed but did get out in the Elise this week when the roads were very dry. Wow, it didn't take long to get properly re-acquainted with the Lotus magic though - can't wait for Spring and some fantastic (and hopefully sunny) road trips 😎.
  8. The baddies just saw through the steering wheel in a few seconds. Not a good solution.
  9. Overhead shots from camera wielding drones are quite popular in the car mags these days.

    Servicing

Lotus Silverstone don't have MOT facilities in-house, they have to take the car to a local MOT station. Although I've had the Evora serviced by Lotus Silverstone exclusively (and MOT'ed it through them too) since 2015, I can't say that I've been terribly impressed during the last few years. Yes, they've always provided a courtesy car upon request which is good, but I've always had to correct marks in the paintwork after I get my car home! Bloody annoying really but, you know, full Lotus service history and all that - hmmm. Also, last time I took the Evora in there just to get the fronts re-balanced, it came out in a worse state than when it went in - steering wheel noticeably wobbling at 80+ (not on public roads, obviously)!! Basic stuff but claiming that they can't check the wheel balance above the national speed limit (durrrr, what about track days?????????). Once the Evora emerges from SORN in the Spring, I'm thinking of giving Allon White a try for both service and MOT... and probably tyres too! Anyone had experience with them?
  11. Erm, no, I don't want to buy it, but just wanted to say what a fabulous looking (and very well spec.ed) Evora that is. And Laser Blue is, ahem, definitely one of my favourite colours too 😍...

    Calendar 2025

Mine also arrived this morning. I must say that the standard of photography in this year's (2025) calendar is excellent - ahem, much better than last year! Plus the re-ordering of "days of the week" and yellow highlights is much improved. Thank you for all the hard work guys, tis much appreciated. I reckon that March next year is going to be particularly enjoyable though - can't think why .

  15. Hey Phil Just for info... Lotus Silverstone has just become an official Morgan dealer, in addition to Lotus (of course), Caterham and, ahem, Subaru.
