Just a quick shout out for the boys and girls at Oakmere Lotus.  Having just had some work done there I cannot recommend them highly enough;  the service was first class.

It just seemed really well run from a customer service perspective as you'd expect for a larger outfit; but the staff had a all the virtues we like of the small independent guys -  knowledgeable, honest and cared as much about my car as I do.

For example:

Picked up the phone when I rang (tick) really helpful and informative advice from Paul on the parts desk (tick). Did what they said they would do and did it to a high standard (tick) while replacing my spots they didn't like the way the spots sat on the brackets they came with so just decided to take the existing brackets off, clean them up and paint them "to make it look right" (tick tick).  spotted a small crack on the cam and while pretty sure it wasn't them, Paul the service manager wouldn't let the car come back to me without repairing it at no charge (tick tick). Oh and reasonably priced.

Anyway, as someone new to Lotus ownership there's some trepidation when using places for the first time so just wanted to share a good experience, if it helps anyone else who might be wondering about using them

ps I'm not on commission.  Not related to anyone there.  Not being blackmailed.

Sounds like a top service from Oakmere.

I was looking at using Chris Foulds for servicing this year as I hear good things from there too.

I agree, I have taken my Elise there for the last seven or so services, and it will be going there next month for another service.  Paul is a top bloke.

I personally had a terrible expierance at Oakmere and left feeling like they had been totally disrespectful of my car and I. They did a terrible job of refurbing my alloys and the straw that broke the Camel's back was my car went in with a brand new, top end Varta battery. The next time I removed my battery cover was the following autumn/winter to find a budget battery which subsequently spilt its gutts all over my luggage compartment.  I'll never go back again.

I agree - All the work they have done for me over the years has always been first class.

I can imagine that would be particularly annoying to say the least. They have however just support our exiges.com meet with a stunning array for cars on a wet bank holiday Monday so can't fault them for taking the time out. Hopefully things have moved on.
