AlanS1 Posted August 16, 2013 Author Posted August 16, 2013 Phil S1 - Thanks for the information and the links. There is a good amount of S1's to choose from at the moment. Hopefully the one i am viewing is as good as it sounds. If not i will walk away. I phoned CCI earlier, your having a laugh at the quote they gave. I am very surprised how much the insurance is for the Elise. I was getting quoted in excess of £700. I was only paying £450 for a Evo x that was brand new with a value of £30k (this was through Mitsubishi insurance). I have managed to get the price down to just over £550 (still not great). The strange bit is this is through the same company that insures my business and they are using the same underwriters as CCI.
chrislane Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I'm with manning uk on their clasic car policy which an s1 would be eligible for as >10 yrs old. Very cheap for me. Worth a call.
olliecast Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I use my s1 for approximately 250 miles a week. completely love it, like driving a racing car every day too and from work. the s2 does seem alot better "car" but if your after that rawness and feel then go for an s1
AlanS1 Posted August 17, 2013 Author Posted August 17, 2013 Doh - i didn't even notice Manning Uk was a insurer. For some reason i thought they sold parts. I have requested a call back from them. Hopefully they will be more sensible. I have decided on the S1. I did see lots of S2's at Ashby Folville the other evening. Yes they look better built, but the S1 to me has that something extra. Hopefully they will be come a great classic in the near future and value will increase?

With all the others holding there value very well.
AlanS1 Posted August 17, 2013 Author Posted August 17, 2013 The one i am going to look at is a B & C 160 plus, so i am guessing that there may not be a massive amount of these around? maybe this may help values? It has had all the items recommended by you guys done and more. Cant get to view until tomorrow now, as he is not available today. Alex B - Your new car looks great. Have you been having fun around some of the great local roads?

B n C still do conversions as far as I'm aware.
