What are people's thoughts? Would you take your lotus to the local tom, dick or harry, or to a specialist at mot time?

I can understand that you'd need to know what you are doing for a service but i presume that by definition an mot is fairly standard across the board.

I don't think it needs a specialist, but I would always leave it with someone I trust as competent and responsible rather than an unknown.

I take mine to a trusted local garage and wait with the car as they test it - as an added bonus, the tester is a bit of a porker so lets me do the brake tests! ^_^

I always have mine done at the same time as the service. At it's a JSR at the moment

Again, I just think for an mot it needs to be somewhere trustworthy. I take mine to a friend of my dads. In worsop if that's any use.As u say it's only a standard test.

Just wait with the car if you can.

Worksop or Warsop?

None of the specialists I can think of do MOT's, they take them to somewhere else.

I've taken mine to the same local garage each year and always wait around in the garage with them as they do it. Always a good opportunity for a good peek under the car. They're always helpful getting the car to pass the emissions test as my car is on the edge (sports cat).

Might be worth asking mike ( mgw racing) where he takes his cars.

Would that be the place on Sherwood Street? Just curious as I'm a 'Warsup Lad'

Hi all

I've owned my s1 for 5 years now and i just use a local garage for mots the only thing I would do is stop with your car as alot of members have pointed out and make sure the garage keep a close eye on your front spoiler as my garage have to put boards down first so I can drive the car up the ramp so as not to foul with the ramp.

Apologies for thread drift....
