Oil For Service

I'm booked in for a service at unit 4 on saturday. Just wondering if it would be worth me supplying my own oil or does gav tend to be competitively priced? If i was going to a main dealer i would (if they'd let me) but wondered what others thought?

For my recent service at Unit 4, Gav used Shell fully synthetic - Ultra Advance IIRC

I always use a decent make fully synthetic. If it were me i would take my own. A good 5w - 40w will do you. IMO you cant beat

Register on Opie oils site. They do regular deals to save you a few bob HTH

I can vouch for Opie, and Tim there is very helpful and knowledgable

I use edge 0-W30 on all my engines because its a good effective oil and reasonably priced

the race engines run 0W20s, the Touring car engines ran a very expensive thin as water race oil when with WSR but when the car was sold it was mapped for 95 Ron on Edge 0W30 on the basis that the new owners would not want to pay for the special stuff.

anyway don't think you have to run tar in a K, Edge works really well in engines that get thrashed.

I had an email exchange with Guy at Opie and he recommended a good quality 5w - 40 on the standard K series. I run 15w - 50 on my VHPD as thats what Lotus recommend.

Im sure you will not go far wrong with a real good quality synthetic.

Simon, i must admit i always thought 15w - 50 was a tad thick for a VHPD. I will speak to Tim before i order my next batch :)
