Hi And Goodbye For The Mo

OK, for those of you who I followed (but never overtook!) out on the runs etc over the past few years I thought I'd just post a 'hello and cheerio for the present' message as I finally had to bow to the inevitable and sell my lovely baby yesterday. How gutted am I? Unfortunately e-baying the kids proved a problem and so the car had to finally go off on a transporter as the final nail in the coffin of sensibleness, for the moment at least.

Not been about much recently due to having to get life in order, work etc, but after the dust has settled and I have realised how little I actually got to drive my pride and joy this year (350 miles since Christmas), but how much time I was spending in my sensible but not very big or comfortable work car (20k miles in the same time period), and in view of pending MOT, B service, insurance renewal, tax etc and expanding family, I have had to trade in the 111s against something rather more sensible and *cough* diesel :drive: I think when the time comes for having to use the battery conditioner to keep it from going flat even at the start of the June, you're not using the car enough!

Three years of ownership hold many many happy memories, the drive to and from Le Mans last year at *interesting* speed, including back through the night with no visibility due to fog and spinning inside the ferry (yay!), numerous runs (thanks folks), North Weald days, Brunty or Bust, lots of roundabouts and tunnels :D , blasts down country roads early in the morning and late at night, lots of upgrades, a shed load of 'nice car mate' comments, and scaring the bejeezers out of old ladies with general loudness, as well as too many other things to remember.

Anyway, my pledge is that I will be back as and when I can afford it, although maybe to an elan +2 or M100 rather than a lis, just for a change, maybe even an S1 (shock :( ). Still quite liking the idea of a caterham one day too.

Cheerio for now though, and have fun (not jealous there then!) and if some weirdo in a bloody great landcruiser (or their five year old son) waves madly at you, it may well be me.

Kristian :)

Nice to hear again from you Kris! :drive:

You know, you could have always let me 'look after' your car when you were not using it! :(

Hope you do get something Lotus again in the future - gone off the idea of a Caterham totally now?

Best wishes though

Dave

Sad to see one of MLOC's big characters (check the no. of posts, folks) moving on. See you around Kris, and who knows? Back here?

I drive past Ryton on the A423 most days, so if you see a Performance Blue Mondeo Estate, it might be me. I'll look out for a Land Cruiser and try to stay out of its way!

Hello folks

Actually now that things are getting back in order again I might well take up offers of pax on runs and maybe nip along to some of the pub meets if any are going on locally. Will keep my eyes open anyway. :D

Not off the caterham idea totally, just not sure that having to let go of the lis to get something more practical, therefore caterham, would convince too many folks!

In a year or two I'll be back with something light, quick and noisy anyway! ;) Bitch is the weather has suddenly turned OK and lots of you folks are off to Le Mans - had a top time there last year. Watch out for Ladders with the water, nude french pensioners (not good!), blokes flying their tent and so on. Have a good one anyway. :)

Will also keep a bit of an eye on the boards as well from time to time.

By the way if anyone wants a not much used S2 cat, airbox or standard S2 111s exhaust for free they can have them if they are willing to collect from Warwickshire. Left all the mods on the car when I sold it (ally tat, MP3/DAB, sports cat, exhaust, hurricane etc) because I couldn't be arsed to fiddle around with taking all of them off. At the mo they are sat in my garage so no use to me.

MLOC and SELOC stickers still firmly welded to the car when I let it go so hopefully a new member will pop up here. Car in top condition when it went, sounding brilliant, although tyres maybe not so good and geo needed checking again. Had a last blast round the country lanes and a few roundabouts before letting it go. Big smiles!

See you soon with a little luck
