  1. Just been to see Gav at Unit 4 this morning, did a great job. He's only a short walk from Burton town centre, so can always drop it off and go shopping for a few hours.
  2. I'd difficult for me to say how much difference they made in isolation - it was part of a complete overhaul which also included Nitron SS2's, but I had no issue with the road manners. Have a read here for people who have : https://arc.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=399735&page=1#pid6802148 Dan may correct me, but I believe HPE's kit is the same as Nitron but better quality*
  3. What dampers are you fitting or planning to use? For bushes, I went with HPE's spherical bearing kit: http://www.hpeauto.co.uk/products/wishbone-bearing-kit Note I had no plans to do track days, and was concerned about harshness, but found these to be great on the road. Don't forget to look at upgrading the toe links at the same time if you are planning to do any track days. http://www.spitfireengineering.com/toe-link-kit-general#SPITFIRE-TOE-LINK-KIT-RANGE
  4. It's been asked and discussed a few times, on here and on SELOC. The problem is that whoever decides to manufacture these is going to want a *big* order to cover tooling, design etc - there is a thread on here discussing this exact topic, and the company wanted an initial order in the "five figure" range according to the person who was looking at organising. No members on here are going to stump up, and companies like Eliseparts are just happy to resell the expensive Lotus items. Discussed here, if interested:
  5. Who did you buy the car from? I'd take it back to them unless they're 300 miles away...£85 buys a lot of fuel
  6. My quote was very high when I spoke to them - that being said, I've had 3 fibreglass/paint repairs across my Lotus over the years, none I've been happy with if I'm honest. It's not the fibreglass repair, its the paint and matching it that I always notice. And (correct me if I'm wrong here) but if you don't prop fibreglass properly before painting, doesn't it look decent initially, then deteriorate over a relatively short period? I think it was Dan who told me, if it's your pride and joy and you want a perfect job, take it to Option1, otherwise use someone else.
  7. Lotus and Land/Range Rover? There's a unique combo of specialty. Never heard of them, their FB page certainly gives the impression they've had a few various Lotus's through the door over the years though.
  8. We've got a great selection of specialists in the Midlands. Dan @ HPE hasn't yet been mentioned. Not sure it's been mentioned anywhere on the forum yet, but Martin of Top Gear Automotive closed his doors a few months back He still works part time and does mobile mechanic/inspection work but its a shame he decided to close his main shop. Used him both for the Elise and the Evora.
  9. I took both seats out and left them with him, dropped them Thursday, collected following Wednesday. Cost was £200, this included repairing the stitching that had come apart, recolouring the bolsters where it was worn due to getting in and out, plus a steam clean, feed and treatment on both, which I thought was reasonable. Was very honest and clear about what was being done. He's very responsive to emails if you want to drop an enquiry over.
  10. Just an update - had my seats back today, Lee's done a great job of a difficult repair, also recoloured the seat bolsters, cleaned and treated all over so the seats almost like new, never guess they were 10 years old with 50k of use! Happy to recommend Lee at LN Trim if anyone is near Cannock/Staffs: http://www.lntrim.com/
  11. I'm off to see a fellow called Lee at LN Trim near Penkridge tomorrow, should be an easy fix.
  12. Allon Whites are a bit of a trek for me at 2+ hours...!
  13. Can anyone recommend a good leather repair specialist, preferably near Wolverhampton (but happy to travel). Just a minor repair on the bolster of the passenger seat, should be an easy job - but would prefer a recommendation!
  14. At standard height you'll be fine. Both of my previous lowered Elise's coped OK as well, as long as you straddle or angle it. Regardless, you need to take them slowly, which can result in slow progress along heavily bumped roads....and tailgating SUV's 🙄
  15. Interesting write up - I've not driven any of the modern Elise's, but the Cup220/250 is definitely on my radar, but they're just so damn expensive! If trackdays aren't really on the menu, have you considered either the Exige V6 or Evora?
  16. I use both Martin@Top Gear and Dan@HPE - both will do a great job. If you get bored Dan will even throw a Honda in the back too 🤣
  17. Well remembered! Many (many) years ago I owned a black S160. Crazy to think I sold it in 2005 for £13,500 and 14 years on they're worth significantly more! I'm over in Wolverhampton, so currently use Top Gear Automotive as they're right on my doorstep. Dan@HPE is worth a visit too, especially if you're looking at tinkering.
  18. Hi Johnny - everyone always comes back in the end Just to add my 2p - personally I'd not have another manual V6 Evora (or Exige, as it's the same setup). I don't rate the manual box at all, and the transmission noise isn't acceptable IMO for a car of this cost or caliber. My next Lotus will see me back in an Elise, although I'd still consider an IPS Roadster as a possibility. Try one for yourself, but if you read about it on SELOC I'm not alone in that one. The manual Evora 400 and later Exige 350's have improved the mechanism, but the transmission noise remains.

    Last drive.....

With the Exige clam, lowered height and OZ wheels it looks awesome. Hell of a car to let go. To a fellow SELOC member I assume?
  20. It won't be your first or your last....budget accordingly

2002 Elise 135 Sport (Factory Built) 70k miles Gunmetal Grey I've owned this for 2 years now, having bought it from a fellow SELOC'er. It's a rare, factory built (have an email from Lotus to prove) Sport 135 with a 135R inspired Blue interior. I've only done ~1200 miles since I bought it, but in that time it's had a lot of work, including: * Full suspension overhaul by Dan @ HPE, including his fancy spherical bearings, Spitfire toe links, Nitron SS2, new wheelbearings, everything has been refreshed and powdercoated in 'Nitron Blue', braided brake lines, upgraded gear linkage and full Geo * Fitted 111S Alloys, with new AD07's all around. * New radiator fan, handbrake cables, new battery. More recent work (last 5k miles) includes * New alternator * Replacement headgasket It's also got an aluminium rad. I've got a document which fully lists all work completed (that's receipted) since the car was new - happy to send this over so you can see what's been done. I had the car fully inspected by QMECH (I have the report) before purchase, but obviously you're free to do your own checks. It's been serviced twice by Top Gear Automotive (Wolverhampton) in my ownership (I've just had the B-service done 16/5/18). MOT is due in 2 months, this will be done before sale, but I've no doubt it'll pass! You can speak to Martin at TGA, Dan at HPE or Chris at QMECH who looked after the car before I owned it if you want any background. Since the refresh is so recent, the car drives beautifully. The 135 engine is a real peach and sounds fantastic with the Janspeed exhaust fitted as part of the 135 kit. I've kept the car garaged during my ownership, and treated the longtail roof with Autoglym when necessary. Unfortunately, there are a few minor asthetical issues - to be expected on a 15 year old car with 70k on! The lights are a bit tired, there's a bit of peeling in the corner of the screen, and some minor bubbling on the rear arch (all pictured). The front is showing some stone chips too. She won't win a concours event, but you'll struggle to find an Elise that drives as well as this for this money! Can also offer some standard S2 6-spoke wheels with tyres for £150. Reason for sale is I'm looking to buy an Evora. If you've got any questions, or want more info/pictures, let me know.

    S2 Alloys

    THIS ADVERT HAS EXPIRED!

    • FOR SALE
    • USED

Swapped my alloys, so my old Black S2 6-spokes are up for sale. 4 alloys, with AD07 tyres and including centre caps, but with the following caveats: - Front tyres have decent tread, but are 9 years old - Rear tyres are *just* about legal. - The laquer is peeling on the alloys, I've tried to photo the worst of it. - The front passenger side is very, very slightly buckled from a pothole. I couldn't get it to come out on the pictures though - it's just 'flattened' the edge a bit. £200, collection ideally as shipping is a pain.
