Taffy Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I think a combination of lack of use and cold weather has done for my battery. I bump started it yesterday ran it for half hour but went to use it this morning and is flat again. Can anyone advise the spec of the battery and possibly a good resonably priced source for a replacement. Mnay thanks Stuart
ssjp Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 If its an 063 battery like in my s1 i picked one up from fiat dealer for £30 its the same one that fits a fiat punto!!! just needed to adjust the battery bracket slightly.
Neil_C Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Just make sure you get a sealed battery, the first ones included with exiges vented to atmosphere and spilled acid in the boots of the owners cars when taken on track.
chris_h Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Or save quite a few kg's and put an Odyssey 680 lightweight race battery. It also frees up a bit of boot space !! Its still lasts over a week between uses without charging it (have a quick fit trickle charger for longer periods).
Dr H Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I think I've killed mine in the S2 jump started it twice now and let it run for about 45 mins. Within a day it's flat again.

Get it to Halfords & they will test the battery for you. If not the battery then maybe the alternator which is a pita but if you have AA or RAC parts cover they could sort it for you (must be following a breakdown remember!!!). Any pics from Autosport?

Dr H Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Carl Someone actually managed to damage the ventureshield on the side of the car at the show. They must have hit something against it as they have damaged the surface of it in a line about 2 inches long. Real PITA as it shows up bad against the black. Doesn't seem to want to polish out - any suggestions.
kimbo Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Doesn't seem to want to polish out - any suggestions. Had a similar problem on my Ventureshield (different installer) and the guys popped in one day and gave me the alternatives of a new section (expensive) or they could try a 'rectification method' with no guarantees. Chose the latter and impossible to see where the problem was. Zero cost Not exactly sure what they did but seemed to involve some claying, spray and a scalpel! Edit: just remembered they said the spray was a cleaning product used on aircraft windscreens.
Carlylove Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Sorry to hear that Leigh. As Kimbo says there are a few things that can be tried depending on what made the mark but obviously we don't know that. Let me know when you are around and either come over to me or I can pop in when I am passing you and I will see what can be done for you. Think of what it would have looked like without the film on
R.I.B. Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 My battery died last winter. Because of all the short journeys to work and back with the heaters & lights on it never gets to put any charge back in. Before you go spending money, remove the battery (so you can see the charge display if it has one like mine) and give it an all day charge. I did this and it's been absolutely fine for another year. Half an hour journey if you have your lights and heaters on isn't going to do anything. Sorry if my post is too late. Phil
Iceman_Jay Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 B82REZ I had the Varta one fitted last sunday for £53 at Rock Batteries its slightly higher amp hours and slightly more starting power than the Exide XP03 that was already on it which is now giving 12.5 volts so although it failed his test at 12.3v its probably still a good battery now its had a good charge. although ideally as others have said its probably best to get it plugged into the leccy if you dont use it much.
flibberflops Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Sorry to dig up a yeah old thread, but how much driving do you have to do to charge up a S2 Exige S battery that is totally flat? The reason I ask is because last year I left my Exige untouched in the snow for two weeks. This year it had a flat battery after a 10 day gap. It jump started fine, and once i took it out for a spin, it works fine all day. However, I am now only using the car every Sunday and every Sunday now the battery is flat again. When I drive it... I do 40 mins on the motorway. Then after a break for a couple of hours I do 40 mins back again (day light hours only using the heater, no stereo). Anyway, it seems that 80 mins of motorway driving is not enough to juice to start the car again the next weekend! Is 80 mins of motorway driving not enough to charge it fully? Or do I too possible have a fubar battery?
chris_h Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 For a battery in good health that would be enough. If its not in good shape you could disconect it and give it a proper charge (if you've got a seperate charger) then give it a run in the car and see how you get on. (If your park it in a garageduring the week then you could get a trickle charger)
