maxj0 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Just looking at a 2007 S2 exige which appears to have a factory fit soft top. Is this right? If so, how easy is it to replace with a standard hard-top? Does anyone on here have the soft-top exige and have any thoughts on how it works? Also it appears to have advans on. Were these fitted as standard in 2007 on an exige? Sorry in advance if this is elsewhere in previous postings but I did look first and found nothing. Honest.
Neil_C Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 It's possible, the only difference between the elise/exige is that you need the two grommets on the back panel which cost buttons. I'd assume it would have come with both. Hard tops are ~£700 second hand so i'd be asking where it was for resale value. By Advans do you mean AD07's? I didn't think these came in the right width for exige wheels? Exiges have only ever come with A048's as standard but I wouldn't be surprised if they had been replaced for a daily driver as they wear so quick/are lethal in the snow.
Dave C Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 For me there is something very wrong looking about an Exige with a soft top. Proportions look all wrong but that is a personal view that I'm sure many others won't share. If you want a soft top get an Elise 111R or SC as the case may be
maxj0 Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 Looks cr*p as a soft top imho! I completely agree, but if the price was right I guess I could always add the 'proper' roof back on later?
Dr H Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I completely agree, but if the price was right I guess I could always add the 'proper' roof back on later? Yep - the soft top is interchangable with the original hard top AFAIK.
Reg Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Yep - the soft top is interchangable with the original hard top AFAIK. Still looks shit though! (the soft top that is).
S1 Steve Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Hi Max Are you sure that the owner does not have the std roof as well? its normally an aftermarket addition and I think it just a matter of bolting it back on yourself. would be suprised if it came from the factory with just the soft top conversion. The Advans will be just a change made by the owner as mentioned above, probably put on for road driving. Hth Steve
r339xjw Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 exige never came out of the factory with a soft top
maxj0 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 exige never came out of the factory with a soft top Thanks. That's what I thought. Do you know if the Sports Pack option included the twin oil coolers and if so where they are located? Are they visible without removing the undertray?
r339xjw Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 n/a exige was called a performance pack with the 2 oil coolers located either side of the front crash structure ps its andy max lol
maxj0 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Decided to give it a miss in the end after a frankly laughable trade in offer and lots of vagueness about roof / tyres / upgrade packs. On the face of it the price looked good though for a 6000 mile 2007 Exige. It's here for those braver (or more informed) than myself... http://sis.virtual-showroom.co.uk/(jklovt4...ckID=10245|1285

I went to look at an Exige over Xmas aswell, and got offered £7k for my TT, around £3k less than what they are advertised on autotrader for, and around £5k less than a similiar TT they had on their forecourt!!! Laughable!! Like you, i made my exit!!! As a cash buy, this looks like a go deal though!
