Paul Newsome Appointed As Managing Director For Lotus Engineering

Paul Newsome appointed as Managing Director for Lotus Engineering

Group Lotus plc, which includes Lotus Cars and the world leading high technology

consultancy Lotus Engineering, is very pleased to announce the appointment of Paul

Newsome as Managing Director of Lotus Engineering.

Paul Newsome will have full responsibility for Lotus Engineering worldwide, reporting to the

CEO, Mike Kimberley, and his duties will include the implementation of the approved

Engineering 5-year strategic business plan, global engineering sales on 3rd party client

consultancy projects and together with Lotus Cars, the delivery of Lotus Cars products. As

well as being the Managing Director for Lotus Engineering, Paul Newsome is also a Director

on the Group Lotus plc Board.

Paul joins Lotus from Jaguar and Land Rover, where he held the position of Group Chief

Engineer – Advanced Product Creation where he was responsible for the innovative Land_e

technology concept, the advanced programme development for the Freelander 2 (LR2 in the

USA), Discovery 3 (LR3 in the USA) and the forthcoming Jaguar XF. Paul was also

responsible for all Research and Development at Jaguar and Land Rover.

Prior to Jaguar and Land Rover, Paul worked at MG Rover and BMW where he worked on,

amongst others, the relaunched Mini Cooper and the Cooper S derivatives in the early 1990s

and the iconic Land Rover Defender.

Mike Kimberley, Chief Executive for Group Lotus plc, said, "I am extremely pleased to

welcome Paul to the Lotus Group. With Paul's strong automotive background and wealth of

experience in delivering engineering programmes for such global, iconic and high quality

brands as Jaguar and Land Rover, he will be a huge asset to the business. We have an

intensely proactive growth plan over the next five years with substantial increases in third

party client work for our global customer base and considerable research and development

into alternative fuels and power systems, new engineering technology, lightweight structures

and emissions reduction. Indeed, over the next five years, Lotus will be further accelerating its

position as a world leader in green transport engineering."

Paul Newsome is relishing the challenge: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me to be able to

contribute to the growth of such a fine brand and talented organisation. I am impressed with

the professionalism of the teams at Lotus – clearly due to the legacy of Colin Chapman's

innovative spirit that is ingrained within everyone at Lotus. Having seen the technology,

designs and development status of the future Lotus products, I am delighted with the

direction of these projects and look forward to working with the team to deliver the first of

these vehicles to Lotus Cars. We will also build upon our global delivery network, which

includes working with more than 120 clients from strategic markets such as China, India,

Malaysia, USA and Europe using advanced, innovative and elegant technology solutions."

Paul (43) is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Sheffield University and is a

Chartered Engineer. He is married and has one son and one step-daughter.

Paul takes over from Albert Lam who has successfully built Lotus Engineering's business in

China. Albert will be concentrating on continuing to grow this area of Lotus' business in this

strategically important market.

I took it in and the pads (oem from new) were glazed. I replaced them with Pagid RS42 and updated fluid. Difference was night and day.  Now, a year and maybe 3500 miles on and the pedal feel is a little wooden again (like can brake light or hard but nothing in between) and they are squealing really bad at town driving  speeds and lig

Tyre comparison - short note on v105 vs ad08rs

Elise S2 k series with standard geometry so set up to understeer gently. Which is exactly what I've been getting on runs out. Car is on the recommended yoko v105 tyres. There a two types the ones to get have a slightly stiffer sidewall and are recommended for mercs iirc. V105 is in my experience a very competent road tyre for all seasons and daily driving. Definitely recommended. V105 thoughts coming off a no longer available very old and hard and narrower front tyre.  As normal T
