Hrh The Duke Of York Visits Lotus Racing Factory

Hingham, UK – Tuesday 23rd February 2010

HRH THE DUKE OF YORK VISITS LOTUS RACING FACTORY

Just one day after Lotus Racing's Hingham factory was officially opened by former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir, the team played host to HRH The Duke of York. Team Principal Tony Fernandes and Chief Technical Officer Mike Gascoyne gave the Duke an official tour of the team's facility and presented him with a commemorative set of his own Lotus Racing overalls.

The Duke's visit was a landmark occasion for Lotus Racing. It gave the team a chance to thank him personally for the pivotal role he played in the formation of the latest British team to join the Formula 1 grid, and provided His Royal Highness with an opportunity to see progress at the factory since the team's formation in September 2009.

During his tour The Duke was introduced to a number of the team's staff, including drivers Heikki Kovalainen, Jarno Trulli and Fairuz Fauzy, together with members of the technical and mechanical departments who were honoured that their workplace was visited by such an esteemed guest.

Speaking about a momentous week for Lotus Racing, Tony Fernandes said "I have been privileged to work with His Royal Highness over a number of years in his role as the UK's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment. As is well known without HRH's efforts Air Asia X's partnership with Rolls Royce would not have become a reality. What is perhaps less well recognised is that the Duke was one of the primary catalysts behind our substantial capital investment here in Norfolk. Indeed it was thanks to the Duke's advice in June of 2009 that we began another extraordinary partnership between Malaysia and the United Kingdom that has culminated in the successful entry and creation of the Lotus Racing T127 grand prix car. I am delighted that His Royal Highness was able to join us at Lotus Racing today."

  • Adventures of an S1 Elise in Germany

Some of you will know, but for the rest, I'll be working in Germany near Mannheim until end of 2026 with 75% of my time there, and 25% back home. As i fancy doing some different roads, and I've booked two weekend driving tours with Delightful Driving company (run by Elisa Artoli), on Thursday 10th July I'll be setting of in my S1 Elise, and 4 days later I plan to arrive at my apartment. I plan to post about my driving adventures over there, so keep an eye on this blog should you be int

    Newbie question

As the title suggests , a newbie query. I have just bought an S2 Elise , 2007 with the Toyota 1ZZ power unit in ‘ touring spec’. That means electric windows, a radio and , err, not sure what else. Anyway, that is not the subject of the query. The car is blue with a cream interior. The latter I don’t plan to keep. In fact , already bought some equivalent second hand door cards in black and am looking hard at a pair of Corbeau LE seats . So, first part of my query centres on those Corbeau seats. A

    LitP 2025 photos

Does anyone have any good photos of this year's LitP that they wouldn't mind sharing? Absolute Lotus magazine would like to publish a short report of the event and need some photos. Ideally I think they would like a selection of pics from the entire weekend so bbq, pootle, runs, Sunday breakfast stop the procession down Winnats Pass and Bamford. Photos of the people aswell as the cars are also welcomed. If you have any and are happy for them to go in the magazine without a credit or pa

    Exige V6 - Rear tyres

Rear tyres will need changing fairly soon.................... My Exige is currently fitted with 265/35R18 rears.  The Sport 380/410/430 are fitted with 285/30R18.  Would there be any benefit in going with a bigger profile rear tyre?  I'm just looking at some options.  Cup2's are proving difficult to find.
