"Lotus is an excellent example of British cutting edge technology and innovation in action and sophisticated glamour"
So said, Mark Prisk MP, Business Minister, on his visit to the Lotus stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show yesterday (14 September 2011).
Hosted by Lotus CEO, Dany Bahar, Mr Prisk was shown around the full range of Lotus sports cars, all making their global debut at the biggest motorshow in the industry calendar.
The Minister of State viewed the stunning and ultra high performance new generation Lotus Exige S which sling shots to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds and its big brother, the Evora R-GT Rally car, which will turn a wheel in racing anger next spring, He also took in the new super efficient Lotus Elise range and the range topping aluminium and carbon fibre Lotus Evora GTE, which Lotus announced at the show will be going into production. He also cast an approving eye over the new Evora range with its raft of customer lead changes and improvements.
Mark Prisk was also shown the Lotus Engineering developed Evora 414E hybrid, a technical demonstrator that shows the latest in hybrid and electric vehicle technology and the Technology Strategy Board funded hydrogen fuel cell London Taxi which produces emissions of just water.
Lotus is investing heavily in new cars, technologies, facilities and training to ensure that Lotus remains a leader in the automotive industry not just in Europe, but worldwide. This is demonstrated not only by Lotus' full range of stunning sportscars but also Lotus' engineering consultancy division which has a global reputation as an innovator, especially in electric and hybrid vehicles – an area where the industry is heading as clearly evidenced at the Frankfurt show.
