othercarsavolvo
Hi all. Dads been rear ended in Tesco in my S1 Elise, guy’s admitted and got witness, was just wondering who car needs to go to to get checked? I’m in Worcester so is Paul Matty still there and doing the same thing now it’s Classic Lotus, or is Central a better bet in Stourbridge? Any other ideas? Phil Hutchins
Do you mean checked for clam damage or for geo/mechanicals?

Near to you I agree Option1 at Bromsgrove for bodywork; Classic at Stourport or HPE at Wildmoor for mechanicals
othercarsavolvo
While we’re at it, am I I overreacting and will their “approved bodywork” or mechanical place be ok? More to the point, do I get to argue it should go to a specialist? Anyone had this happen to them? How did it go?
JulianT
It was a while ago but I had something similar and they wanted to take it to their authorised repairer. I declined but had to get a couple of quotes. Had one from Oakmere who just wanted to patch the crack in the rear clam with it still on the car. Another from Option 1 who wanted to remove the clam and do it properly. I went with them and they did a fantastic job. Frank who runs it even handled the insurance clam as the they wanted me to go with Oakmere due to the cost difference. I can’t recommend them enough and would go there again. JulianT
If it’s their fault, definitely go via the specialist route. Their authorised garage will be used to the normal run of the mill body repairs. I guess the only issue is there could be a slight risk they’ll write it off if the repair costs are too much? I did think that myself when I had my knock but they never questioned it

MG4Lotus
With regard to the insurance, there may be a possibility they want to charge an additional excess if you don't use their authorised repairer. This has been applied to one of my policies.
