kieranexige
I know what you mean Mark. To make it less obvious from the outside I stuck black insulation tape neatly on the logo and around the silver lens surround so it's nowhere near as visible from the outside at least. M@r]{
Good idea to cover the glossy bits. You've given me an idea - matt black plastidip. Do the whole of the front (not the lens of course ) Should work well and can peel it off afterwards. Protect it from scratches too
Lunner
Tell me more about connecting it to a permanent live from the interior light? Had a search but can't find anything much on mini USB pucks
Stik
There's loads of little devices on ebay you can get to step 12v down to 5v with a usb socket on (or without - you could cut the plug off the camera and solder it straight on if you don't care about resale later) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-DC-9V-12V-24V-to-5V-USB-Step-Down-Step-up-Power-Module-uk-/400972959080?var=&hash=item5d5bd9cd68:m:m7epkbxLhu1fDONNWD18kvw or a bulkier, but sealed, one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-DC-Converter-Module-12V-To-5V-3A-With-USB-Output-Power-Adapter-15W-Regulator-/361087136998?hash=item54127874e6:g:yQIAAOSwQYZWz-82 There shouldn't be too much worry about flattening the battery unless you leave the car sitting for long periods. Not sure how much current it's likely to draw, but if it's around 200-300mA then it'll drain the battery in a week or two. Might be worth installing a switch, or remembering to unplug the usb lead if you're going to leave it standing.
