To answer one question, people say the diffuser does make a difference BUT not on standard ride heights.. so that comes back to improving the suspension.

Not done either of these things so thats just my take from other peoples experience.. blah blah. I may be talking crap though.

Have a look at www.eliseparts.com for prices of rear diffusers(or reverie if you feel like a bit of carbon fibre).

160's didnt come with splitters or diffusers

Enjoy the car!

So can u feel the Diffuser Workin then??

No, its just a gjob addition!

It may be GJOB but it makes it look faster :crybaby:

I'm sure it helped me with those incredible speeds round Gerrards at the weekend. :P

I wouldnt post that you have been doing those speeds on the internet. There is no need for racing on the road, keep it sensible and leave the speed for the track, this site is not Max Power and you will get no respect for that.

Its a new car, take it easy and get some driver training, http://www.1stlotus.com is a good start. If I had a £ for every new owner I have seen with an Elise that manages to crash it in the first few months because they dont understand a rear wheel drive car I would be millionaire :crybaby: well almost! Especially now the roads are getting wet and greasy.

Quit with the txt speak and colours, it makes it very difficult to read and impossible for people to search to find your post in the future as none of the words are spelt properly.

Thx :P:wacko:

So it does have some power and I cant see my car being less than 160 bhp !!!

Unless it's had a lot of additional mods, it will be under 160bhp.

Back in 2002 we did a Rolling Road day at Emerald and on the day there was 2 B&c 160's and my old Lotus S160.

Of the 2 B&C Super 160's one was modified and was measured at 158bhp and the other was standard and that reached 149bhp (although that did have a 160TB so not totally standard (something your car doesn't have looking at the pictures)).

My Lotus S160 made 167bhp with the only mods being a Hurricane induction, 160TB (proved to be worth 1bhp on the day) and a cat pipe.

Despite the lumpyness of the Lotus 160 engine it produces better power and torque than the B&C one, no matter what B&C tell you.

Paul...your a Chav - I can tell :crybaby:

It is inevitable that the elise would eventually enter the affordable max power scene but there is time yet to change. Lovely car buddy - in a lovely colour - please dont spoil it with bolt ons :P

In answer to some questions and then some...

1. Leave the engine alone. Its plenty fast enough and chances are you won't be even touching 50% of what the car is capable of so early in ownership. walk before you can run.

2. The diffuser does sweet FA. Gavan Kershaw, Lotus chassis man knocked something like 1/2 a second off a track lap time with the Edwards one. Woopee Fucking doo. It looks good. Leave it at that

3. Boasting about road racing is ghey. Yes - we all have a play from time to time - but come on were not 17 and we dont go 'lapping'. A well driven Gti-6 annihaled me early in my elise ownership. Its all about the driver and you wont be boasting in a few months time when you bend it - like 90% of new chav elise owners do do.

4. www.barryboys.co.uk if we are doing italic text, txt speak, lol's, jbl subwoofers and cruises.

Now we ve cleared all that up.

Welcome to MLOC

Friendly and welcoming aren't I ? :crybaby:

Just warning him - the elise is a toy - buts its fuck off big weapon in the wrong hands !

Paul, first of all welcome to MLOC :crybaby:

As has already been said, first get yourself some driver training from 1st lotus.

When you see what your car is capable of in the hands of someone who can really drive you will realise that we all have a lot to learn. Anyone can drive quickly in a straight line, but feeling the car through a bend while on the limit is another story. The elise will bite your hand off if provoked in the wrong manner.

Racing other cars on the road is just plain daft. You will either end up banned or dead. Its not a case of who is the better driver or has the best car, its who is willing to take the most risks :P

The only place to find this out is on the track. There are plenty of track days organised for us to enjoy which can be booked through SELOC or LOT. You can get information on these in events.

As for modding and chipping the elise, get used to it as it is first, then in the spring go for suspension. A well set up car will be far faster than one with an extra 20bhp.

The elise was never about brute power, but performance through light weight and handling
