MrSimba Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Mr Simba have you changed you car again yep back to the 'dark' side... This was just too good to pass by, and VX's are so cheap at the moment for what you get Not changing car's again tho! this ones staying... promise...
Mike Fellows Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 I've been down the costing route , very expensive, lower residual , as it's very modded, cheaper by far to but an Exige!!
MrSimba Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Absolutely true if your going to be the one paying for the modifications! But there are 'one owner' cars out there with £18k+ of modifications that read like a 'wish list' pampered to within a mm of their fibreglass and (in the case of the VX) can be had for under £15k Selling the elise to fund it and leaving a large chunk over in the bank kinda makes sense! not that common sense was ever my strongest asset... Just like you say when you start adding up charge coolers, manifolds & exhaust systems, engine internals, gearboxes, paddle clutches & lightened fly's, Nitron's ect ect... do you start from fresh and get hammered financially or just sell your standard car and pick up a bargain?

Yes.........
scatty Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 i spent ££'s getting my scoob to 450bhp, it wanted for nothing. and then sold it for a pittance. i suppose thats the fun of it all, getting the car to the standard you want. sadly you never get the money back on them, and the next owner is the lucky one who gets a bargain. dont think id ever buy a standard car and seriously mod it again, id let the previous person do it and let him take the hit... please remind me what ive said, but i suppose thats part of the fun of any car....
Steve J Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Who's going to bet you'll be fiddling with the Exige soon enough?
scatty Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 i think its a form of ocd modding.... seats/harnesses/tyres/lowering cam change seem to be all in my computer history.... the mrs wishes it was just porn, she says it would be cheaper......
Stumason10 Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 yep back to the 'dark' side... This was just too good to pass by, and VX's are so cheap at the moment for what you get Not changing car's again tho! this ones staying... promise... Philip told me you'd swapped again!! Seems a good buy. I drove a mates vxt in Germany last year and that shifted! Different to an Elise and sc exiges I've had a go in. The turbo shove gave it a different edge. Elise's and exige more linear and that was fun. The mighty thwack of turbo power also fun. A non scientific drag race between Blues vxt and a exige 240 was a close run thing. Honours shared I believe. Oh and found out Simon you know Blue too. I've known him for ages through mates. Small world! I love my lightweight race car, but a stonking vxt also appeals as a counter foil.
MrSimba Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Anytime you want to show me how it should be driven Stu let me know! I could always do with a little tuition!!! Phil's face when I took him out was a picture, he was just looking for something to hang onto... and there's not much in a VX!
Stumason10 Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Thanks up for that! I tend to drive like miss daisy on the road these days. But if you are up for a track day you're more than welcome a go in mine too. Seen in events Blyton Park. Not sure I'm around for that. Anything coming up at Donny park? Did he take you out in the Jaaaaaggghhhhh!?
