S1 Sold....s2 Ariving

Part exed the S1 111s against a S2 135 sport in Laser blue. Is it going to be much slower as the 111 is 145bhp and the S2 is 135.

The S2 is supposed to be more friendly for everyday use. Is that the case.

I did not put any mods on the S1, should I on the S2?

Either way.......can't wait until pick it up on Saturday week. :):)

I think the S1, 135 was closer to 145 bhp but it was kept quiet as Lotus did not want to compromise 111s sales. I dont know the actual figures for the S2 varients but i do not suppose there will be a lot in it. Ive only had a short run round in an S2 but it appears to me they are a lot more user friendly. To be honest the only reason i have an S1 is i prefer the way it looks. As long as it says Lotus on it, it,s more than good enough for me :)

probably will be a LOT slower.  The S2 is far heavier and is generally regarded as not being as good a car.

Thank you for your unhelpful and apparently uninformed opinion that does not really answer my question.

It is narrow minded idiots like you that discourage new members from posting or partaking.

Hopefully others are a bit more articulate.

Interesting comment Talaris. Slightly narrow minded of yourseld to start insulting a well respected member of MLOC. If you had read a lot of the posts on this forum you would see that this is common banter between the S1 and S2 fraterinty.

So wind your neck in mate.

However the Malbon is sooooo wrong. S2 is far better.

Now a big lazy boy armchair with fridge in the armrest..... stuff the honda conversions this is the way forward. Someone forward this idea onto Lotus so that they can incorporate that into the S3.

Could get you S1 sado masochists of our pampered S2 backs.

So Malbons a well respected member of the forum? Blimey there is definitely hope for us all !!

Don't worry about your mistake Talaris. To be honest it is an easy mistake to make and I'm sure no-one would mind if you wanted to edit your post.

Welcome to MLOC and don't be afraid to post again!!

Back to your original post - I reckon the two cars your comparing are going to be very similar in performance (weight and power aren't dissimilar) and you'll love the new one loads.

Don't take Jon's (Malbon) comments too seriously it's just the usual S1 vs S2 banter and nothing is meant by it. ;)

There isn't that much of a weight difference between the cars so the power should be very similar. The 135 I believe puts out slightly more than the S1 111s.

Is the 135 the one with the Oz wheels and AO48 tyres? If so the handling will blow the "old" S1 111s away :P

Welcome to MLOC

Officially: S1 111s = 143bhp, . S1/S2 135 = 135 bhp.

S1 111s have seen mid 150's on the rolling road with just induction kits & sports exhausts added. With similar mods, 135's will still be 10bhp behind. And the S1 111s has a close ratio gearbox making 5th useable on track and tractable on road (20mph/1000rpm instead of 23) - I thought only the early S2's got a CR box?

Don't know about the rice burning ones.

S2 111r/Exige have a Toyota 6-speed box. Apparently 6th is geared the same as the high 5th ratio on K-engined S2 111s, giving 5 fully useable close ratios below it. No doubt the 'yota contingent on here can confirm the useability...?

Do we have a 'yota contingent on here? Surely we should be perusing the Blue Oyster for them or something......

My cars in Nick Whales tomorrow for the floor repair and I was hopeful of a go in a 111R/S2 Exige, but due to it being Sat morning and admitting I wasn't about to buy in the near future then it doesn't look possible. If I had of then I definitely would have posted my comments!
