nichop Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Bell & Colville have confirmed that the Lotus trim shop is to close. Please add your name to the petition to keep it open here :- http://www.myonlinepetition.com/petition/340/Keep+Lotus+trim+shop+open/ Nick
richbk Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Done. This would be a great shame if this is true seems like it is, i spoke to chris neils yesterday about something else and he mentioned he had over £4K of orders for re-trim, but had been told its closing....seems odd to close a nessacary, hopefully profitable and clearly customer focused part of the factory. richbk
bella2769 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I've not had chance to use a place like this yet, true its also a long way from me BUT a recommendation from you guys would make me do the drive (and the Lotus would love it) and it wouldnt be that hard as we have family in Leicester. Here's hoping they listen to their audience and they stay open (I really need sill trims!!) Thanks for letting us all know about this and hope we help make a difference.
richbk Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I doubt they would be closing it if its profitable. i disagree, my company has just closed 9 stores, 4 of which were profitable, as they didnt acheive the "brand profile" im sure they make some money, but if it impacts on them acheiving production deadlines for new cars etc. they may see it as an unnessacary part of the operation. shame to see the service, and potentially the skills dying out. bring in ready made seats no need to pay skilled craftsmen to cover them ( richbk
Sport135 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Hope this has also been posted on seloc and any other forums out there [exige, elan, etc...] such a shame to see a great service disappear i need my s1 doing this winter [so i can enjoy the car in summer]

This was a sperate operation, it's/was part of the factory tour if you do it.
Sport135 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 had an email from aftersales at lotus this is what they said about it shutting. The two people who were doing retrims are no longer able to provide this service and unless things change we will only be able to supply new parts from 2001 onwards. I believe there is some sort of petition doing the rounds which is being sent in to Lotus asking for the service to be reinstated so who knows what will happen. Regards
JonS Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 248 signatures so far. How many do you think it would take for Lotus to listen to it?
