markh27 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I'm going to have a go at retrimming the sills - what's the best glue to use for Alcantara? Also, I will probably velcro on the sills so they are easier to remove next time - where's the best place to get extra strong velcro?
Jonathan E Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Velcro from your local Haberdashery, you can't go wrong with good old Evo Stik contact as long as you follow the instructions Hth Jon
lummo Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Halfords do a Heavy Duty velcro, although I would think Jon's suggestion would be sufficient, and cheaper.
daves2111s Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Spray carpet adhesive is the way to go. Just did mine with a cotton backed vinyl leather look material and it works great. If you do need to get it off some time in the future, when it's worn again, it's quite easy. (The velcro on my carpets has lost its adhesive backing now so I used the spray here too and it's done in seconds. Dave.
markh27 Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 Thanks guys - just got to get around to getting the damn things off now !
Martin R Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Any pics available ? I cant decide if im going to retrim mine or buy some new ones as they look a bit tatty. S2 pics of course I fancy a bit of black alcantara if its not too pricey.
Carlylove Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Surely alcantara on the sills is a pain? For those wanting to get theirs up to tip top shape do a search on www.detailingworld.co.uk as I have seen some amazing results on there. Is leather or faux leather not a better option for the sliding in properties or is it just us big chaps that require that luxury
markh27 Posted February 27, 2010 Author Posted February 27, 2010 Yes, I think leather is probably better but I like the look of Alcantara so will give it a go and see how long it takes to wear out !
