andywolf Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I just wondering if any one uses super unleaded petrol? I have used if for the last 3 years in the Renaultsport clio 182 as I have found that the engine performs better with V-Power than 95 ron petrol.
AshGTi16v Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 your yota elise r has knock sensors so will find a difference using higher octane. i used to use v power with added octane boosters in the evo, used to be smooth high up the revs and produce massive flames.
andywolf Posted March 19, 2009 Author Posted March 19, 2009 Good. Just wanted confirmation as I plan to use V-Power
JonS Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 My friend in his Z4 notices a slight difference with V-Power as well, but I reckon its all in the mind, its better for your engine though.
R.I.B. Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I always use V-power, have a members point card too. On the off chance of having to put normal petrol in I notice a drop in MPG & the car doesn't seem to pull as nice through the mid range, but as Jon says it could be in the mind. I avoid super market petrol like our local sainsburys, they just buy in the cheapest crap they can. I really do feel like I can tell a difference when i've had no choice but to put some in. The engine seems to lose it's liveliness. Phil
Elaine Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 its better for your engine Yep, we use it in all our cars....... When I had the Jimny MOT'd the tester commented that I must use good petrol, because the emissions were like that of a new engine (it's 8yrs old). E.
DunkHSP Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Am I right in saying that in a standard K-Series it makes no difference at all? Seem to remember something about no knock sensor. Must admit to putting the odd tank in every now and then just for the hell of it. I know it was mentioned about 'cleaning' properties too even if no performance gain.

Should make no difference on a K as there is no knock sensor to adjust the timing. It might clean it out a bit though.

You often see ESSO trucks at my local Tesco petrol station. I always assumed 97 RON was 97 RON wherever you got it from
