Martin R Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 Oh Greg Gaffa tape and a trip to LeMans will give time for all the cracks to appear. See you later.
Mark A Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 If i get the car booked into City centre car repairs (or whatever its called) would they supply me with a lotus courtesy car that could be taken to le mans? If thats the case, then our ferry tickets are for my S1 elise and the number plates wouldnt match up. Sorry to hear about the car Greg. As for ferries, they don't care. I once came back to the UK in a Silver, French registered Fiesta, as opposed to an orange Exige, they just waved me on.
gerags Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 Absolutely gutted for you, guys Best thing is to ensure that the car is driveable for Le Mans, so get the geo checked by one of the local specialists to put your mind at rest. Once that has been done, enjoy your break and worry about the bodywork when you get back.
PeterField Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 Just read this mate, totally gutted for you both. Hope you manage to get things sorted out tomorrow, keep me posted.
Greg.g Posted June 3, 2007 Author Posted June 3, 2007 Thanks for all the advice Quite a few of you will have seen the damage today on the run. The car appears to be driving fine, but i am still going to get it checked over as soon as possible. I reported the accident to a call centre (uk based) this morning as the main office for eggar lawson ( competition car insurance ) is closed at the weekend. I will give them a call tomorrow and try and start to get the ball rolling. If the young lady driver is true to her word, she will have contacted her insurance straight away. She was with her mum in the car and they accepted responsibility for the accident. Just to make sure, i had my camera in the car and took photos of the location and damage caused. Hopefully there will be no problems in proof of guilt if required. Anyway, i spoke to Rob from Nick Whales at lunchtime regarding the claim and asked about courtesy cars. As long as the third party accept blame, NW can put me in contact with a company that could supply me with a lotus courtesy car. I will try and chase this up tomorrow as well. As those of you that have seen the damage to my car can testify, the damage as it stands does not look too bad. No doubt further cracks will appear as the damage settles in. But as the damage was caused through no fault of my own, and i had already arranged the trip to le mans in an undamaged lotus to take part in a "MLOC" lotus rally, i dont see why i should have to accept a lesser car. But we shall see what tomorrow brings. I will keep you posted.
Greg.g Posted June 6, 2007 Author Posted June 6, 2007 Just to let you know, i have just found out that she is disputing the claim It looks like i am going to have a battle on my hands. And as for Le Mans
s1_austen Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Greg, She went into the back of you, she doesn't have a leg to stand on. She also admitted liability, was there a witness to hear her say it??
Greg.g Posted June 6, 2007 Author Posted June 6, 2007 I dont really want to say too much about the incident on a public forum. If you want to pm me your email we could discuss it offline. Cheers for the support.
Matt C Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 You have the pics Greg, so I think you are ok. Plus she admitted it to you and Ali. I hope this does not disrupt Le Mans plans....?
Martin R Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Just to let you know, i have just found out that she is disputing the claim It looks like i am going to have a battle on my hands. And as for Le Mans Greg, get the Geo checked, gaffa tape it and drive it to LeMans. Ive seen a lot worse doing track days at Cadwell as have you
dobbo Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 i have just found out that she is disputing the claim That'll be because her insurance company has just given her a bollocking for admitting liability at the scene. Almost all policies require you to NOT do that as they say it changes the way they'd agree settlements (usually 50:50 despite whatever clear evidence there is to the contrary). Damn right it does - they'd have to pay out for all of every valid claim instead of splitting it with the other party, and that would prevent the "We-Give Crap-Drivers-Cheap-Insurance" companies a big problem.... Tell your insurance company IMMEDIATELY that she's changed her story and insist that they record the change and that you maintain your side. Unfortunately, both witnesses (one each) will not be classed as independent, so if there was anyone else that witnessed it, get to him / her first !
