scatty Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 i was lead to believe this. apart from shell which comes straight from the bottle, so to speak...
richbk Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 sure theres a report from one of the known specialists garages on here using different fuels but cant find it at the mo. results were that tesco momentum gave best performance increase but a small amount. g i know what you mean about the queues but surely you can set the alarm for 3 am and send laura out to fill the tank??? i get approx 12-20 more miles out of a tank of momentum, so 6-8% ish which is similar to price % - although non scientific as i have random "enthusiastic" moments whilst on my travels richbk
Laura Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 g i know what you mean about the queues but surely you can set the alarm for 3 am and send laura out to fill the tank??? richbk I'm blaming you if this suggestion is made at home now lol. My last experience at Tesco in the Exige didnt go so well - after queing for what seemed like half my life to reach a pump I stood getting very annoyed when it wouldnt start distributing the fuel. Took me a while to realise I had to choose the 'pay at pump' or 'pay at counter' option, opps Perhaps its people like me that make the queues so long Fingers are crossed here for a dry day tomorrow so we can finally get to drive the car properly with the new remap.

scatty Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Quick Laura and g, warm up the motor! We have a dry spell ! Even the roads are dry! For now!
G Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 Made the run out :-) opened the garage door and it started raining again lol. I'm sure our ignition is wired up to atmospheric pressure?
scatty Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 what a nice sight to be greeted with... the car i mean not laura (scatty being saucy).. im very impressed you can reverse it into the garage...funny you say that, its been relatively dry all morning in notts, so i thought id rinse the car down for blyton 2mz ( why i ask you) and its started raining... that light rain that peter kay goes on about...and its freezing out.. i think we are all wired up g.....so im guessing you went back in and had a cuppa instead....i also think you need some carpet on your garage wall.......
G Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 Noope we went for it. Just going into town for a while. Cleaned up all the front grills last weekend and had a new tow post fitted to replace the rotton rusty one while the clam was off
G Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 Thinking of selling the exige and buying a boat, when will it stop F@&KING raining :-(
richbk Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 reverse into the garage......surely like me you get out and push it in by hand due to the large amount of other crap that lives in the garage stopping me even opening the door of the car once its in there. good anti theft device tho.... richbk Made the run out :-) opened the garage door and it started raining again lol. I'm sure our ignition is wired up to atmospheric pressure? and where are your driving lights??? cant see holes in the grill for them?, or are they intergrated into headlights??
KingK_series Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 If your car isn't designed / mapped to run on higher grade you're right John you're wasting your money. As regards the Supermarkets vs branded fuel discussion, again I agree - the Supermarkets must get their petrol from one of the big corporations, but there have been rumblings that its never the top quality stuff. Most people that I've met have sworn by V Power or BP Ultimate to be on the safeside. Absolutely correct, an OEM engine only needs manufacturer's recommendation, in the casre of all Ks that is 95 RON. On a tuned engine I map advance for shell V power, and then use only that.
rm0rgan Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Youre car has to be able to take advantage of higher RON fuel to feel the performance benefit - otherwise you are only getting the cleaning agents benefit if there are any different to standard 95RON. All S2 Exiges can take advantage of 98RON fuel - I always use Shell 98RON stuff - It maybe the placebo effect but it seems to run smoother and has more of a kick on the 2nd cam in my opinion. Richbk - the white Exige only has the Performance pack fitted - you get driving lights as part of the Touring pack - I have them fitted to mine (both PP and TP fitted) and personally would prefer it without - looks much meaner! :-)
G Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 No driving lights for me unfortunately as said above, car came specced with performance pack, sports pack and super sports pack so no cup holder :-( Used up the BP fuel and filled up with a tank of Vpower, It does feel more urgent and especially at higher rev range. Going to stick with shell now as best I can, Vpower will be cleaning my engine with its additives while cleaning out my wallet with its prices
