Popular Post PaulH Posted Wednesday at 16:07 Popular Post Posted Wednesday at 16:07 I love the Lotus in the Peak event and it's great to see all the positive posts and pictures of this year's event. I wasn't there this time because I'd decided to attend the Jim Clark 60th anniversary celebration of his F1 championship, Indi 500 win & Tasman series championship. This was organised by the Jim Clark Trust and took place at Duns Castle very close to his Scottish home. It ran on both Saturday and Sunday, so we (six of us) had decided to travel up to Scotland on Friday, have the day at the event on Saturday and travel back down on Sunday taking in the Yorkshire dales. The route was selected to avoid the motorways, and to use some very scenic and hopefully entertaining roads. We used three cars, two of which were Lotus, my Elise, and Rob's Esprit, which he has just got back on the road after an extensive rebuild. If was the Esprit first run of any distance since the rebuild. All was well and we had a wonderful three days. The Jim Clark event was exceptional. If you arrived in a Lotus you had the opportunity to park on the lawn of Duns Castle. There were many of the Lotus single seaters that Jim would have driven in period, that the owners and Classic Team Lotus had brought to the event. They ran them up and down the driveway to Duns Castle a couple of times each day (see the video link below). At the end of the day one of our group, Neil, asked one of the officials if Rob could move his Esprit to the front of the castle to get some photographs. He was able to arrange that and as luck would have it Jim's Lotus 25 was also there just at the right time . As part of our pilgrimage we visited Jim's grave in the churchyard at Chirnside, very sobering. On our long drive home we went via the Yorkshire Dales and call in at the Tan Hill Inn for lunch. All very picturesque. A great three days. Here are some pictures to give you a bit of the vibe of the event: 7 Quote

MG4Lotus Posted Thursday at 01:06 Posted Thursday at 01:06 I bet there are a few of those single seater owners cursing that dip in the road in your video clip. 1 Quote
