I'm trying to get organised for once!!  My MOT and next service are due in the first couple of weeks in May so I want to get my car booked in somewhere early.  I bought the car from Lotus Silverstone, so my gut is to take it to them as any issues that 'appear' might be covered under warranty and I'll also be in a slightly better position to negotiate rates on any work that does need doing!!

A service quoted £368.  MOT £75 (inc 0.2 hrs to take it to the test station!!)

This leads me to the age-old problems of is it worth getting the work completed by a dealer just to get a LOTUS stamp in my service book.  I could book the car in with a Lotus specialist like PJS or Gav at Unit 4 which as well as being much closer to home would also cost less.  As longs as the correct service is completed at the correct interval all should be good.

Thoughts?

Not had much experience with Lotus servicing Guy only having serviced the Evora twice. First time with Silverstone who i wasn't that impressed with TBH.  Second time with Central who i thought were more attentive & also offer a loan car which was certainly helpful to me. I personally dont think theirs anything wrong with using specialist service companies like PJS etc as most people who are looking into buying a 2nd hand Lotus will have done their homework & researched the best places to get serviced anyway.

On a side note when i had the 1st service @ Silverstone they also did the MOT which passed no problems. The next year i had the MOT done at a local quality independent who ive used in the past.. Anyway they failed the car on the number plate spacing which Silverstone passed previous year! Needless to say i now have 2 sets of plates.

Car booked with PJS for A service, MOT and full Geo check.

Service around £70 cheaper than Lotus Silverstone.  They also keep parts in stock!!!!!

Car will be all done and dusted in readiness for Badger's North England Tour weekend  👍

:drive:

Result !

Mine only went to the dealer for the running in sevice - FOC, and recall.

Everyhitng other service has been with a specialist. Bonus when its not left you can stand and chat while they work on it 😎

Lotus Silverstone don't have MOT facilities in-house, they have to take the car to a local MOT station.

Although I've had the Evora serviced by Lotus Silverstone exclusively (and MOT'ed it through them too) since 2015, I can't say that I've been terribly impressed during the last few years.  Yes, they've always provided a courtesy car upon request which is good, but I've always had to correct marks in the paintwork after I get my car home!  Bloody annoying really but, you know, full Lotus service history and all that - hmmm.

Also, last time I took the Evora in there just to get the fronts re-balanced, it came out in a worse state than when it went in - steering wheel noticeably wobbling at 80+ (not on public roads, obviously)!!  Basic stuff but claiming that they can't check the wheel balance above the national speed limit (durrrr, what about track days?????????).

Once the Evora emerges from SORN in the Spring, I'm thinking of giving Allon White a try for both service and MOT... and probably tyres too!

Anyone had experience with them?
