richbk
Evening all . Bad weather has stopped us driving , but not tinkering . Decided to fit a harness bar to the S1 and the momo slightly smaller wheel we purchased at the end of last season . harness bar - does anyone have a pic , close up ideally of how the bar(eliseparts item) sits in the car once bolted in , has anyone retained the seatbelts alongside a set of harnesses ? steering wheel -how the the good f#%%#. Do you get the original off . Removed the nut and fixing washer so the threaded spline is visible and the metal collar that appears to sit behind it , but no amount of persuasion with hands , mallets , and a home made puller is havivg any effect other than bending the original steering wheels inner frame ., cheers richard and Ethan
winthattt
First, be very careful. Leave the nut on so when the wheel comes off it does not smack you in the face, just loosen it a few turns. Second, in driving seat, knees pushing from underneath, arms pulling from above, pull hard. It will come off! oh, a puller will just crush the crash structure, so don’t use one. Daveb99
This type of puller is fine. Used it several times. It hooks into the two oval holes deep the wheel itself and then by turning the hex part it simply pulls the wheel forward priding the securing nut has been loosened several turns first. Has nothing to do with the crash structure. NEILSEN TOOLS 7 Piece car steering wheel puller tool https://amzn.eu/d/bgpfO2J
Lithopsian
Not the crash structure as such, but the collapsible section of the steering column is, obviously, quite easy to mash.
richbk
A little more encouragement and an overnight soaking of WD did the trick on the wheel. just the harness bar to sort now . If anyone could share an image of original belts still in situ, I assume on top of the bar fixing that would be awesome . Not sure if I should consider longer bolts , but they appear to have a decent amount of thread into the roll bar ?
