Tire Softener

HI, has anyone ever tried using tire softener? I was going to replace my 3+ year old AD08's as they have gone hard but the tire fitters suggested I try the softener, Its seems a shame to change them as they have hardly any wear on them. I was wondering how long it lasts for before they go hard again?

Brush the tyres with a wire brush and. Wrap them in cling film. For 24/48 hrs to force the softener. in.

It reduces the harder by 5 to 10 shore but it is temporary.

I've used deicer before, does a similar thing.
