Hi guys, first post on here hello to one and all. I have a 2003 S2 111S, and find its almost impossible to get good radio reception I have checked all aerial connections they all look ok. Anyone else had this problem, if so what is the fix ?.

Radio reception on elises / exiges is never great.

The aerial is a serious compromise and as the car isn't metal there isn't a very good ground plane. (its actually better in the S2 exige as that has a dipole in the front, but it still way to small)

If its interference your getting from your engine then you can improve it by fitting a ferrite core around the aerial feeder cable on the other side of the boot lid. (You'll hear the static type noise change with the rev's of the engine if its interference from your car)

The other thing to look at is if water has got in between the aerial and the feeder cable. And if you've got no signal then obvously check at the back of the head unit that its plugged in ok.

I found that the signals weren't strong enough to do the auto scan to find channels, but if you manually scan to the known frequency it sounds ok.

Best bet is to listen a CD or get an ipod connector (or as i've done remove the radio and listen to the engine)

When you go to a louts meet ask to compare the radio ina simialr elise sat next to each other, you'll then know if its a problem with yours or just that they don't have good reception.

My S1 had an Alpine CD changer in it, it was useless I kept losing radio channels, the CD player was useless too, so I've just bought a Kenwood with iPod / USB connector and its great  the radio works on all channels and I can swap between stations without fear of never finding the station again.

I do have to also say that a lot of the time I do switch off as I do like to hear the car, esp if the roof is off, but sometimes its nice to have an option.

Good luck.

Mike from Sports Car Services is very near to you. I am sure if you went over in the car he would gladly give an opinion and check some obvious stuff.

For example you need to maker certain the amplifier is connected and the cable is not damaged.
