New Lotus Info....?

I don't know if anyone else has heard this, but I've just been chatting with a guy who works with Lotus, rating their cars for insurance purposes. He spends a lot of time down in Hethel and gets to see and hear a lot.

 

Basically, he mentioned that Lotus have been talking to BMW a lot lately, then he clammed up and said he shouldn't really have mentioned that. Anyhow the impression I got is that the next new lotus may well have a BMW engine in it.

 

So, is this just a silly story, or has anyone else heard of a BMW link?

I think there was talk of the next Esprit having the old (V8) M5 engine. Can't remember were i read that, might have been autocar.

Yeah, it's also not going to have any indicators and is likely to have a worrying tendancy to swerve around in the road without warning!

A Dealer told me a year ago at the Donny show that he'd been to see the next esprit and it did indeed have a BM V8 engine in it.

Yup, also heard the rumour... and info from a fellow Exige owner (see this months Evo) said that the M5 is a stonking car - he's actually buying one, and with that engine in an Esprit - it'll be a beast!
