If you post on SELOC (www.seloc.org) someone can send you the details by private message. Nobody tends to post up the details of how to get in without a key on a public forum, I'm afraid.

PM me if you don't get a response from SELOC,

I know the theory of how to get it to open, but thankfully never had to do it, so not 100% it will actually work. (hence, if you get a 100% response from seloc it will be better)

If someone tells you that you can lift the boot slightly and hook on to the internal release lever, that isn't true so don't bother wasting your time, it is just the federal elise's that have this (in case a midget gets stuck in the boot, lol)

Boy, that was way too easy, lesson learnt - leave nothing valuable in the boot!

As I only knew the theory, I thought I had best try it out first, 1st attempt took maybe 30 seconds, 2nd took maybe 2.

PM sent.

Thanks Gary. I think we should only share this with people who genuinely need it. Was very easy though once I knew where the item in question was situated. Think I could get in probably 10 seconds without tools.

Need a new lock barrel now. It is all in peices in the diffuser. Any ideas where I can get one?

Thoughts from the General community please???? I kind of feel bad not replying, as a member is stuck, however I am also slightly dubious that the person's first post is how to break in to our cars.....................

EDIT: Don't start drilling anything, you will just make a mess and I am 99% sure you still won't be able to unlock the boot even with the mechanism drill out

Sincerest apologies to EverydayElise who may be completely genuine, and it could just be a horrid coincidence, but I'm with you Gary. As a community we have to look after each others' interests.I'm sure recovery companies would know how to get in.

Hi, I completely agree and have PM'd to explain who I am. Hope that helps!

Hmm, see now the PM only complicates things as it is one of those "too good to be true" scenarios.

Obviously, any petrol head in his (or her) right mind would want to earn some brownie points with you if you work for who you say you do.

Have you rang Lotus Silverstone? I realise it is a Sunday, but I am sure there will be someone there who can help if you popped the car in to them?

I think that will be the closest dealer to you

Thanks, no luck though.

based on the fact I am too trusting, wanting to believe the best in people, I have given in and sent the information.

I have received some tenuous proof as to the person being who they say they are, and additionally based on fact there is not a lot you can do from accessing the boot, I feel comfortable emparting this knowledge.

Hopefully there won't be a spate of S2's with their boots broken in to now.

As mentioned above though, getting in is way too easy so never leave anything of value in your boot. (I would imagine a theif could just lift the boot and break the fibreglass to access the boot anyway if they so desired, even if they didn't know this method)

Gary.
