I have a loose screw i think on the undertray, keeps rattling. I can't see that it's a propper screw, but looking on here http://www.elise-shop.com/index.php?main_p...products_id=537 i think it might be an allen key screw.?

I'll have a look tomorrow, but i have a little pack in my car with a few random little metal things in, including an allen key. Would this be to fit this? I also have a weird circle thing, with a sort of screw on the end (in the pack) anyone know what this is for?

Also, the undertray is looking shabby, can you paint these with anything to spruce them up?

Cheers,

Jo.

The little allen key is for the front access panels. I think the undertray is held on by 8mm hex head bolts on the S2.

The weird circle thing is probably your tow hook which screws into the bracket in the centre of your front grille. Think Steve is right with the 8mm size ..... just lie on your back ( ) slide underneath and tighten.

Undertray can be 'spruced up' ... thread on SELOC but generally remove the rear plastic strip, clean off muck and it can be sprayed but probably best left IMO if it cleans up ok.

Yep Kimbo is right, the circle thing with a bolt on the end is your front towing hook.

IIRC you should also have a large allen key in the pack, which is for the 2 large dome head bolts securing the undertray to the bottom of the engine.

If you're hunting around in the boot for other stuff then you may also find the tyre weld bottle secured under the rear right wing. ;) Lots of things to find when looking in an Elise

Thanks guys. Thought about it after and guessed the allen key could be for th access panels at the front. t is interesting what you find.

Thanks for the advice on the sprucing it up. Think i'll just give it a good clean again.

Don't those tyre weld bottles go out of sate after a while?

Thanks.

hi jo

i fitted my towing eye and painted colour of wheels(gold) as an aid to stop people reversing into my car and damaging clam. if the other car has low bumpers it helps (eye had 2 skuffs on it when i sold it, suggesting 2 contacts) but is no use if a higher car reverses into you.

also i removed and sprayed my diffuser black when i fitted front splitter( in black ) to match. i think it looks great and "hides" the back end well, particularly if your exhaust grills are done same colour.

it was a long job, remove diffuser, major clean with variety of cleaning products, then some alumi prep paint, so paint would key to it, rub down with fine sandpaper, then 3 coats of hammerite smooth. new stainless bolts to fix and away you go. you do need to keep it touched up !

worth it in the end thou.

I'm going to spray my rear diffuser black to match wheels & grills. I wanted to get hold of some new fixings though. What I havent found are the clips that go on the inside of the rear clam that hold the bolts in place. does anyone know where I can get these from?

Edit: Found them! lol Here:

Thanks Rich. I think it looks great black, don't know if it would suit my colour and silver alloys? Anybody have an idea? Hah, i thought i'd got it sorted this morning, now i'm all confused again

I guess you used the hammerite paint then as it was such a big job or did you go for the spray?

I'm not bothered about it being a long job though, i don't mind getting my hands dirty, in fact, i enjoy it.

Thanks for all the info.

I use the Hammerite spray. Works just great and get a nice even coat. Gave my grills 3 coats just to be sure

Black. Or Black :) I've got a spare undertray (very grotty) which yr welcome to if you want to keep something on the car while you do yrs up. Also the grilles which I never did up cos had no replacements. Could do with an acid dip/saand blast then respray.

:D Thanks for colour advice. It'll be something i'll have to think about before i rush into it. Is your tray black or silver, if i do decide to do it i'll pm ya. I'll hopefully do the grills this weekend or so, depends on the weather.

Cheers,
