Vitaly - “I Welcome These Extra Points”

After a very eventful 2011 Canadian Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Vitaly picked up 10 more points for the team. We managed to get a few of his thoughts.

What was your take on today's race?

VP: It was a day of relentless action, and it was a challenging race for all of us drivers, with lots of stops and starts. It was really testing us but I'm glad we were able to deliver some good points for the team.

Tell us some more about the conditions…

VP: Today, the conditions became very difficult after a few laps and stopping the race was the right decision. There was absolutely no grip and the car was aquaplaning everywhere. When it restarted, we tried to make the most of our position : I was fourth because I decided not to change my tyres before the red flag. From then on, I was fighting for a good position.

Are you pleased to finish where you did?

VP: On one hand, finishing fifth after starting 10 th is a good result but, on the other hand, I really feel we could have finished on the podium today. That said, I welcome these extra points.

All in all, you are pleased with your weekend then?

VP: Yes, I think we're now back on track after a couple of difficult races. A big thank you to the team for the work this weekend and I can't wait for Valencia."

  • Purchase assistance

Hi I am new to this forum, so would like to start with a ‘Hello’. I am in the market to buy an Elise and thought the forum would be a good starting point for advice on what to look out for. I think I am looking for an S2. I am not looking to use the car on a daily basis and suspect I will do no more than 3000 miles a year. Is doing low mileage a problem with these engines or any specific engine? Are there key issues I should be looking for when viewing cars for sale? Man

Mud flaps - Replace or remove?

Hi all After the Ashbourne run out yesterday I have just noticed the nearside mud flap behind the front wheel has gone missing on my Elise S3. Rather embarrassingly I have just looked at some photos from 3 weeks ago  and realised it wasn’t there then either 😁. So I’ve no idea when I lost or it , or how! So questions are: , should I try and source another one? ( I would need some of the fittings/screws too as some of those have gone too) I’ve had a look on  t’ internet at Elis

    S1 Type 49 Elise Refresh

And so the winter refresh of my S1 Elise started today. Hoping to take front clam of tomorrow. However of the 4 lower bolts that hold the lower rear to the chassis, 2 are spinning and 2 won't budge despite copious amounts of penetrative oil over the last few months. The Eagle eyed will spot my Dremel tool which I'm not looking forward to using to remove 4 bolt heads that have limited access. Currently on my list are replacing the driving lights brackets, shot blast and paint the tow post, n
