Steve Quick Is Lotus Cup Uk Champion

Steve Quick has won the inaugural Lotus Cup UK championship after a dramatic final round at Brands Hatch yesterday (22 October). The Norwich-based driver entered the race with a twelve point deficit to leader Ken Savage but just twenty minutes into the deciding round, the latter’s car started to smoke badly. Staying out until the pit window opened, when he returned to the garage there was nothing that his mechanics could do, leaving Quick just needing to finish the race, which he duly did.

Mark Fullalove claimed the overall win, beating Steve Williams by ten seconds, repeating his victory on the GP circuit back in July. Pete Storey made it a 2-Eleven podium, after holding off Exige Cup winner Jamie Stanley for several laps. Alternator failure put paid to early challengers David and Rob Fenn, leaving the other father and son pairing, Doug and Chris Setters, as Open Class victors. Production honours were claimed by Stuart Plotnek, whilst Quick finished fifth in class.

Savage’s later win in the final Elise Trophy race of the year went some way to making up for his heartbreak but not before Stuart Rowland had added a second victory of the year with an assured drive. Newcomers Martin Wills, Warren Scott and Andrew Wright made a big impression on their debuts, although first-night nerves saw a few spins, including a botched move on second place from the former, which spoiled a great drive from Phil Stratton-Lake. Two appearances on the podium for second completed a great day for Quick.

    Newbie question

    As the title suggests , a newbie query. I have just bought an S2 Elise , 2007 with the Toyota 1ZZ power unit in ‘ touring spec’. That means electric windows, a radio and , err, not sure what else. Anyway, that is not the subject of the query. The car is blue with a cream interior. The latter I don’t plan to keep. In fact , already bought some equivalent second hand door cards in black and am looking hard at a pair of Corbeau LE seats . So, first part of my query centres on those Corbeau seats. A

    Mud Guard Replacement and other bits

    Recently I bought my first Lotus, an Elise S2 08 R. There’s a few basic bits I’d like to get sorted and ideally would like someone to do this for me. I’m not mechanically minded at all. Left mud flap is missing, I’ve bought the part but someone to fit it plus a couple of other minor bits like a rattling brake pad, probably a spring/clip(?). I’m East Midlands, near Peterborough and wondering if there’s any recommendations for Lotus garages/people this direction?

    Spotted at British Motor Show

    ...does it count if you spot yourself? I joined the SELOC stand at the British Motor Show last week. There were half as many time machines* there as Lotuses! (Well I'm exaggerating actually because there was a Lotus Carlton on another stand and a 340R in the supercar section. Maybe next year I should cross link to the SELOC events page as it would be great to have a bit more of a showing and I know MLOC has some members a bit further south.     Toxic Green S-Cup - (Aka Grogu)

However unlike most cars which I bought and built up to be highly modified the plans for the lotus are quite different and so this will be more thread of its life in my ownership.     Elise S2 111R MFRU multi function relay unit replacement

    Hi Everyone, I need to replace the MFRU on my Elise 111R and I am looking for some advice please. Firstly, can this be done from above, or is it necessary to remove the under tray and do it from below? I am uncertain how much slack are in the connector leads. Also, should the unit simply slide up and off the mounting tab, or is it locked somehow, as mine won't budge. Is there a locking tab that needs to be deflected to unlock the unit? This issue is not mentioned by any owners, so
