Lotus Cup Europe Set To Star At The Bosch Hockenheim Historic - Jim Cl

The championship, which gained FIA International Series status in 2013, will be supporting the Bosch Hockenheim Historic – Jim Clark Revival meeting at Hockenheim. The German Grand Prix venue will be staging a weekend of historic and modern racing, featuring some of the sport’s most famouscategories.

Top of the bill will be Historic Formula 1 cars from 1966 to 1985, an era in which Team Lotus thrived, and the drivers will be competing for the Jim Clark Cup. More contemporary Grand Prix machinery can be found in the BOSS GP category, whilst there will be demonstration laps from Toyota’s 2002, 2004 and 2008 World Championship challengers. The Race Club Germany will also be demonstrating classic F1 cars and other great single seaters at the event.

Historic Formula 2, the FIA Lurani Trophy for Formula Junior cars and Formula V will also take to the track for races, whilst Sportscars including CanAm and Touring Cars will also thrill fans.

Lotus Cup Europe joins the bill for the first time this year, celebrating Jim Clark’s association with the British marque. The championship will provide a more modern take on proceedings, whilst the racing is expected to be close as the drivers get their 2014 campaigns underway.

Last season Thomas Dehaibe won the title from the Production classes after a close battle in which V6 Cup and 2-Eleven category drivers were also in contention. The Evora and V6 Exige cars will start as pre-race favourites in the two races, which incorporate both standing and rolling starts.

The Bosch Hockenheim Historic – Jim Clark Revival meeting will be an unmissable event for Lotus fans across the continent, and the race programme makes it one of the best historic events of the season.

Tickets for the event are available from 25 Euros, with a weekend passes priced at 35 Euros. Meanwhile entry is free for all children aged 16 years or younger when accompanied by an adult. • Bilstein Repair Service

Hi A couple of weeks ago my 2008 Elise failed its MOT due to leaking rear Bilstein dampers. A look on elise parts and they were £330 incl Vat each without the springs, so I decided to look at my options and found out that Bilstein offer a rebuild service. Dropped them of at their service centre in Leicester last Monday, picked them up yesterday. £140 incl vat per damper for new seals, pistons, gas and oil plus a degrease so less than half the cost of new ones. Very good

    S1 Type 49 Elise Refresh

And so the winter refresh of my S1 Elise started today. Hoping to take front clam of tomorrow. However of the 4 lower bolts that hold the lower rear to the chassis, 2 are spinning and 2 won't budge despite copious amounts of penetrative oil over the last few months. The Eagle eyed will spot my Dremel tool which I'm not looking forward to using to remove 4 bolt heads that have limited access. Currently on my list are replacing the driving lights brackets, shot blast and paint the tow post, n

    Tyre Quandry - New Elise

I went to see a ‘new’ Lotus today. It was bloody lovely. It’s a 15 plate so around 8-9 years old. Fitted to it were Yoko Advans AD07 front and rear. The front ones were 175/55R16 which you can’t get anymore (195/50R16 seems to be the option for fronts). Either way, by my man-maths, the tyres must be as old as the car. The date stamp on one of the fronts and one of the rears was 4814 so made end of Nov ‘14. The previous owner tracked it a lot so I’m assuming he used a 2nd set of wheels/tyres and

    S3 Elise Brakes

Since owning my Elise 240 Final Edition I've felt that the brakes weren't the best. Seemed to lack initial bite and lacked "feel" through the pedal. Over the past few weeks I've had 2 occasions when driving in the rain where I've gone to brake and found there to be very little there, had to press the pedal a few times and wondered whether I was going to stop in time - not a comfortable feeling. As I'd never been keen on the feel of the brakes I always planned to change the pads at some poin
