J M Stott
Hi All, Over the next few weeks i am going to removing the majority of the interior out of my Elise S2, in a view to modifying a few things and completely cleaning it (seems to have an 'unusual' smell from previous owner who got it damp inside) so i have a couple questions 1) The center divider (in front of tunnel) I have heard that this is not structural, could i remove this and not put it back (I'm aware there are a few wires that you have to be careful with) 2) The leather seats are looking rather tired as are the door cards, what sort of leather cleaner have people used/recommend for this? (or is just personal choice and use the stuff i used of other seats?) 3) How easy would it be to 'dye' the grey alcantara dashboard to black? I will be removing it so i will have access it and wanted to spray it black, any suggestions on what to use? That's it for now although I'm sure over this week i might ask another 1 or 2 Once i have put it all back together i will post pics and a little write up of what i did/ how much it cost as well Cheers
chris_h
The gear linkage isn't particularly impressive to look at if you leave the cover off (makes the car look very track/race car). No particular experience of different leather cleaners, but I think you will struggle to dye/paint the alcantara evenly and without ruining the texture. It's not to expensive to buy a new roll of material and glue it on.
Dennis
Gliptone is what I use on leather, cheap but effective
jonnyfox
I love stripping out my interior, it's sad but true. There is every chance the front centre divider maybe riveted from below, which is going to cause a BIG problem should you want to remove it, you could be lucky. The vents maybe screwed from under the dash, if so it's a fiddle and you'll likely blaspheme. You can easily just retrim the top either yourself or I know a man... You can repaint all parts easily enough and I agree with Chris about the gear linkage. I do but haven't, like it when the centre console in painted body colour, someone did it on here, looked really very good.
