CDM2018 Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 After a fab Midlands Tick run yesterday my car went to alloy refurb at a local guy who has a good review. Arrived at the site only to find my locking wheel nut was missing, I find out it was still at central lotus workshop! so I had to drive all the way from south Hinckley to Notts and back again given also hold up on M1 to deal with. When I arrived at Central they found my lock nut and then suggested I get my alloys refurb at their specialists which saved me driving all way back and matched the price. so a nightmare day turned out ok hopefully ! Dave-hp Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Surprising how many places will price match if they get the chance..... Quote
CDM2018 Posted July 15, 2024 Author Posted July 15, 2024 I think Central felt maybe my nightmare of not finding my wheel nut was their responsibility ? Quote
Eric Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 You'll have to let us know how the refurb turns out. I had my Evora SR (19/20 forged) wheels refinished via Lotus Silverstone quite a few years ago (yes, 2015). They were gloss black as standard, of course, but I had them refinished in silver and still look bloody fantastic all these years later, especially against the dark paintwork. This shot was just before setting off back from Goodwood FOS last Sunday (and one of the last cars to leave the Performance West car park - ha!!)... 1 Quote

CDM2018 Posted July 19, 2024 Author Posted July 19, 2024 Well i was supposed to pick up this morning but after a couple of calls to central informed me car not ready until 4pm plus and as i have no one now to take me given the late update the car awaits until tomorrow🤨 I have had to get a Uber for my daughter and then for myself later to get me to footy this evening all in all costing me another £40 ! 😱 Quote
CDM2018 Posted July 20, 2024 Author Posted July 20, 2024 As I write this I am sat awaiting in central , the people they use for alloy refurb has been abismal , they had supposed to have work done by Thursday and now Saturday afternoon still waiting ! Quote

Yes they sub it out to a local firm who done a decent job until I drove home when I discovered a big vibration on the steering wheel which I have been told is due that the wheels were not rebalanced before going back on! Not sure if that down to CL or the alloy firm but the car was sat at CL and alloys sent to the sub firm 1 Quote

The wheel refurb mob definitely should have rebalanced the wheels, especially if they took the tyres off anyway (which they should have done to strip the old paint back off and get back to bare metal before refinishing). What a bunch of amateurs. Doesn't reflect well on CL either. Quote
CDM2018 Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 I am a kind and not inconsiderate person we all make mistakes or have someone who lets you down and is outside of your control. so this morning CL contacted me to say they going to pick up the car today and get it sorted but alas not happened I am sure and trust CL are trying their best but even my patience can be exhausted ?
