Windscreen Wipers S1

bought an S1 about 2 months ago.

 

wiper is generally pretty rubbish, which isn't news.

 

anyone suggest a replacement blade and where to get from (have heard citroen).

 

ditto qn on headlights - though think i prob just need some fog lamps.

General concensus is to fit the S2 arm and blade. Apparently around the same price as just the S1 blade and much better quality.

Wipers:

You'll need an S2 wiper arm which is much better than the S1 one (Eliseparts). Rubber blades can be bought cheaply from Poundstretcher, Focus DIY etc (JML Wonderwipers 2 for £5).

 

Lights:

Get some better bulbs Philips Vision plus, Osram etc all standard H4. There's a HID conversion available through Yvo Tuk but they are expensive.

 

Fog lights:

I really hope you're joking on this. It's an Elise not a Nova.

 

You could get the driving lights if yours doesn't have them which helps down unlit roads on full beam.

yes i did mean driving lights, it doesnt have them.

 

 

though i did have a nova years and years ago, gave it away to a friend who had it crushed rather than pay for an MOT!

Assuming your car hasn't got driving lights, it's a clam off job to fit them. I think the brackets and wiring are there, but you can't get that type of grille off without taking the clam off.

 

If you're buying a replacement grille to fit around the lights, though, you could just cut the grille in half and sacrifice it - cheaper than taking the clam off.

 

If you do decide to take the clam off, there's a list of stuff to do whilst it's off to save time later in life (upgrade headlight wiring for 100W bulbs, fit stainless steel towing bracket, change all fixings for stainless ones, etc)

I have a brand new S2 wiper arm and blade, bought for my S1, as some kids bent the last one. Never got around to replacing it and changed cars now. Would you like to buy them?

My recently acquired S1 came with an Eliseparts uprated wiper arm. On Saturday I used the wiper travelling to the RR and it was fine giving a clean screen every sweep.

One of 2 things then.

 

1. The arm needs bending slightly to ensure even pressure across all the blade.

2. Blade rubber has gone off and is no longer flixible enough to mould to the windscreen.

 

Try 1. if not you need a new rubber.

My preferred one is not to drive it in the rain!
