The clutch release bearing is stationary until you depress the pedal so how can it be noisy?

it can rattle if it's loose on the drive shaft and not held properly by the release fork. Doesn't necessarily mean the bearing is about to fail.

Mine's noisy - Lotus have just agreed to fit a new one.

Interesting does that mean this is recorded as a recall soon .

I wouldn't think so - I don't think there's really that many that are affected to warrant a recall.

It seems Lotus will look at the issue on an individual basis - my noise only manifested itself around 6k miles, dealer heard it and contacted Lotus. ( it has got worse since my initial visit to the dealer)

Had to wait several months to get the field engineer out to test drive and listen to it, but he agreed it should be replaced.

If anyone wants to compare noises I'm happy to meet up.

It appears to effect late 2013, early 2014 cars. Both mine early 2013 and 2015 have been ok. I have driven two though which have been noisy. One was the CUP car at Hethel, which also suffered from poor gear selection, the other was a dealer demo. If you search Seloc and the lotus forums there's a few cases on there.
