Simon Mac Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Well it's <400 miles and 4 days old, but I've broken my modding cherry on the V6.. First thing in the bin: The frankly old fashioned Alpine radio. In goes a Bluetooth enabled Pioneer. Only a basic one, but the sound quality is fine, the illumination matches the car's, but more importantly I can stream audio from my android phone, and make hands free calls. I wish Lotus would ship cars like this. Get with the times, and sacrifice the CD for Bluetooth please Hethel ... Retail wise they cost the same, and the CD player is just pointless nowadays, it might as well be a cassette deck! Taking apart the steering wheel cowl to run the mic cable, I did find the wiring harness plug for the exhaust bypass valve switch... this will be mod #2
scatty Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Out of interest, they don't put in the ridiculous cup holder still do they.... I agree with the stereo, in this day and age, a CD player should be a thing of the past...

I agree with the stereo, in this day and age, a CD player should be a thing of the past... My car has the cup holder, it was an optional extra! (Bundled with the comfort pack: Cruise control, "trinket tray divider", additional USB charging, and the cup holder ) I know cruise control and heated seats in an Exige, I won't go to Lotus heaven!
scatty Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Dear god, the cup holder lives on...... Ha ha ha ha..... My last one ended up on the a52 as my mate thought it the most ridiculous thing he had ever seen... Trinket tray, heated seats... This is utter madness...... :-)

Whilst adding the button is dead easy, the bypass facility is tied to the race-pack function within the ECU. Unless you can persuade Lotus to generate an ECU specific unlock code, also requiring hook-up to Lotus Tech Centre software, you cannot activate race-mode or launch functions - or de-activate the soft-limiter on the Roadster; these parameters are set at the factory.
