tonner_notts Posted May 20, 2005 Share Posted May 20, 2005 after driving about i dropped my gf off and went in for no more than 2 mins, when i came out the car wont start was only ticking over. i left it half hour, and it would kinda start then cut out. so i rang my breakdown assistence by time they had came out (about another half hour)it started fine and is still ok? any ideas what caused this? tonner_notts Posted May 20, 2005 Author Share Posted May 20, 2005 cant see how it could be battery id just driven about 20 miles, then turned all lights off etc for about 2 mins, then it wont start, yes def got petrol lol. also a cpl of times if ive put my foot down in 2nd gear the car will jerk as though ive just dropped the clutch. weird to explain. malbon Posted May 20, 2005 Share Posted May 20, 2005 yeah..sounds like a cell that has dropped in the battery. happened to me before. get a halfords one for £40 fitted and a 5 year guarantee. worth it as lots of elises seem to have troubles with batteries. Halfords might just tell you its dead to make a sale... walked into halfords last wek to ask if they do bucket seats they had no clue what they were!!! If people need to search for posts if their cars cant start in the future they wont find this thread otherwise. Just makes the forum much more useful for future use. tazbaz69 Posted May 21, 2005 Share Posted May 21, 2005 ok i had a similar problem with my s1 not long ago. Have you tigthened up the negative lead tight to the battery terminal as it holds one of the earthing straps.The metal peice tends to look like its making a good connection with the terminal, but may not be casuing the problems you have been experiancing, if nothing else it is worth a try?
