after driving about i dropped my gf off and went in for no more than 2 mins, when i came out the car wont start was only ticking over.

i left it half hour, and it would kinda start then cut out.

so i rang my breakdown assistence by time they had came out (about another half hour)it started fine and is still ok?

any ideas what caused this?

cant see how it could be battery id just driven about 20 miles, then turned all lights off etc for about 2 mins, then it wont start, yes def got petrol lol.

also a cpl of times if ive put my foot down in 2nd gear the car will jerk as though ive just dropped the clutch. weird to explain.

yeah..sounds like a cell that has dropped in the battery. happened to me before. get a halfords one for £40 fitted and a 5 year guarantee. worth it as lots of elises seem to have troubles with batteries.

its not long had a new battery, shall i take it and get it tested at halfords or somewhere, will they know if its the battery

if u got receipt better take it to where u bought it or previous owner... Halfords might just tell you its dead to make a sale... walked into halfords last wek to ask if they do bucket seats they had no clue what they were!!! :D

Tonner, I've edited your posts, I've replaced your typing of car "wunt" start to car wont start. If people need to search for posts if their cars cant start in the future they wont find this thread otherwise.

Just makes the forum much more useful for future use.

Cheers

Sadly,

The mobile phone text brigade comes into all ways of life now, also, there are those amongst us, that live and die by a spell checker and have no idea of grammar.

"We'll having no texting here, this is a local website for local people"

Is that what you meant Beefy ?

I'm lucky, I've still got one, but both of my Grandads died in the early 70's! :D

ok i had a similar problem with my s1 not long ago. Have you tigthened up the negative lead tight to the battery terminal as it holds one of the earthing straps. The metal peice tends to look like its making a good connection with the terminal, but may not be casuing the problems you have been experiancing, if nothing else it is worth a try?
