Some dealers fit them to Elises as "original equipment" in place of the Konis. They're relatively inexpensive, Paul Matty says that they're better than the Konis and will recommend them, but ive also seen some people slag them off on the BBS. Key to the Elise's sublime handling is having good suspension, so id spend a bit more and get S2 Bilstein's, and i have.

looks like my konis have bit the bullet so i,ve bidded on them, i would love nitrons but its to much more then i,m willing to pay to be honest. I wish i had bought some S2 sus at donny but i thought the fact these Gaz ones where adjustable means i could dictate the ride hight etc.

Just get some S2 stuff off Steve B on SELOC. It is a world of difference and is proven throughout unlike the GAZ. You can also fit it yourself - First DIY job I did on the liz and im a numpty. dead easy.

Also you can choose your ride heights. Think I had the 110/120 and it was fine for everything...speed bumps etc apart form parking half on kerb/road where the underside clam scraped :drive:

Just remember to get it geo'd after

of course...but the £100 or so you save on fitting will pay for this :drive: ..and tbh its a perfect oppotunity to get the suspension properly set up.

how much are S2s?

how hard and what roughly is involved in installing?

obviously only two bolts really holding them in, but what do you have to remove/undo to get them out?

PS anyone know of a cheap trolleyjack/axle stands?

eliseparts want £100 for a low entry, surely that cant be the only option!

Spoonz

Jack up one side of the car. Where do you live?, I can lend you a jack. Doesnt nessesarily need to be low entry.

Wheel off

Unbolt the top and bottom bolts holding the shock on.

On the fronts you will need to unbolt the bracket that holds the top of the shock. The bolts can be a bit awkward to get at.

Coat the face of the new braket with silcon sealent where it touches the chassis (Prevents bi-metalic corrosion!).

Bolt the bracket on.

Bolt the new shock on. I used a locking compound on the nuts just in case.

Repeat 3 more times

Get car Geo'd

Think that was it?

A couple of things... if you don't change the ride height you don't need a geo check... even if its only by about 5mm its probably not necessary as unless you get the geo done with full corner weighting it will probably be slightly out anyway.

As for a jack... drive the car onto a piece of wood under the tyres, then use a normal jack.
