hi all... was just wondering from your previous experience who is the better insurer for lotus elises..?

 

must admit ive phoned nearly everyone! the best quote i got is with Brain Flux for £850 but with £500 excess! which is pretty good i think..

22 yrs old

shropshire post code..

5 years driving

5 years no claims

 

if anyones got any ideas would appreciate it!

Try Directline - both Elise and TVR cars were great for me.

I was the same as you last year - 22, 5 yrs NCB and I payed £1500 FC with Tesco (baisically Direct Line) on a 160.

 

IIRC I was quoted £1280 on a standard S1. £250 voluntary + £150 stat. excess. Bear in mind they do ask for a tracker tho.

 

This year I got a quote of £1200 from Adrian Flux, but I still payed and extra £200 and stuck with Tesco...still a bit about AF...

Adrian Flux were beating all comers until a couple of weeks ago, then it seems THB Egger Lawson are in front.

 

It never sits still for very long though. For standard cars, basic road work for folk in low-risk areas, especially those over 30 with clean-ish licences, the likes of Direct Line & Tesco can be pretty competitive too. I was insured with Axa with my previous standard car, but they wouldn't go near the uprated one. Same bloke, area, licence, different car.

Admiral also cheap for standard car, don't do any mods though as they charge extra.

I know this isn't with ref to insurance on lotus but my wife has just has a fantastic quote fron Esure on her Lexus. They beat the best quote by over £100. Try them online, it takes about 10 mins

Eggar Lawson won't quote under 25.

 

Tesco were cheap for me... also maybe try Autotorque.

It'll be that Shropshire postcode thats causing the problems

 

I'm with Esteem and have been for 5 years now,£400 £250 Excess,111r,Shropshire postcode,driving since I was 17.

Tbh I think the quote you have is very reasonable considering your age and the vehicle.

Give Elephant a go. New premium just cost me £820, but thats with just 1 year NCB, 2 SP30 speeding fines and parked street-side. I'm 32.

Personnally, I'd snatch their arm off. Had my elise for just under 2 years and paid more than that for my second years insurance despite phoning everyone in the yellow pages! Hopefully it will come down this year( due in a few months).

I'm with Direct Line (800), even though Adrian Flux were cheaper (570) their excesses were ridiculous and we're hearing some dodgy stuff from people on how they are dealing with claims.
