Steve J
Now that I got your attention.... how do I get my gear nob off? I have removed the allen bolt. The other holes underneath are just that and do not have any screws to undo. It looks like it should just twist off, however despite years of practice buliding up wrist strength, I can't seem to shift it WD40 in the japs eye has no effect either. Is it going to be a case of molegrips and a cloth? Who's done this without totally destroying the gear nob? Cheers
Jonathan E
Cloth and Molegrips did the trick on my S1,Also have years of built up wrist strength but I couldn't shift it. hth Regards Jon
Steve J
It's off. Put some electrical tape around the gear knob to reduce then possibility of scratches, then towel and grips. It's a toughie. Just got to take the centre console to Hallcraft for spraying now.
Dave S
Hi Steve You should be able to do it without grips. Hold the top part (try and unscrew) Hold the bottom part and try and screw further on . or put two bolts in the holes underneath, put screwdriver through and screw further on. Knob splits in the middle. Easy. Dave
Steve J
Cheers Dave. Got it off the stick in one last night. Couldn't do it without grips as it was on too tight. Slight scuffs unfortunately even with insulation tape and towel round it.
simon_prickett
Had to hacksaw mine off, which was OK actually as I was intending shortening the shift! Simon.
Fiona
Just been a hoof round the High Peak at lunchtime and obviously Steve was in a hurry to watch Top gear last night as the handbrake shroud came off in my hand. Cut my hand operating the handbrake the rest of the way back to work- it's really sharp. Why does every traffic light in Sheffield have to be at the top of a 1:4? Will be viewing the gearstick with suspicion on the way home....
