Nylatron Gear Linkage Bushes

Hi all, most of you have probably already done this upgrade but as i'm a newbie i just thought id share with you how i got on and for any other newbie's out there that might fancy doing this themselves. First of all i took Steve J's tip (cheers steve) and reversed my car onto a few bricks, this worked surprisingly well and gave me that couple of extra inches to manouvre

Off with the rear diffuser

Found what i'm looking for

Off with the gear cables with the help of a screwdriver

Removed the bell crank locking nut and removed the bolt

Out with the old bushes, once again a screwdriver came in handy and to be honest the bell crank bushes crumbled on removal

In with the new nylatron bushes

Re-fit the bell crank bolt and locking nut and slide the gear cables back onto there pivots, along with some grease

Fit the washers and 'R' clips onto the gear cables

Back on with the rear diffuser

Took it for a spin to make sure nothing was going to fall off and i must admit for completing this within an hour and to go along with my short shift gear lever, this is one of the best upgrades i have done so far, makes the gear change much more positive and solid, well worth it IMHO.

Then i celebrated the occasion

Although this might be child's play to some of you, i was chuffed to bits with this one so i'd thought i'd share it with you.

i think you deserved a proper lager thought mate - come on man, fosters?

 

All that was left in the fridge i'm afraid, leftovers from a BBQ at the weekend, still, it was better than milk!
