GreyKnight Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Hi guys I want to buy a domain name and some webspace (e-commerce not required) and I don't really know who the best providers are these days. Does anybody have any experience? Thanks Graham
MikePMC Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 There is always a "Better" deal around the corner, but for consistancy and good prices, I'd recommend http://www.1and1.co.uk as I've used them for years and years with trouble. They are fairly cheap and their basic package will allow you to forward a domain name to a web space and also forward emails to your ISP provided address. Cheers, Mike
surrealillusions Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 i have used 123-reg.co.uk for my domain names. No trouble, cheap as well. As for web hosting, theres a few million companies out there that do it. I'm with saratogahosting.com They're in america, but they have excellent customer support, uptime is pretty much all the time (touch wood, i've probably cursed it now), and they're are very cheap. Plus with the exchange rate, makes it even cheaper.
bermudabob Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Hi guys I want to buy a domain name and some webspace (e-commerce not required) and I don't really know who the best providers are these days. Does anybody have any experience? Thanks Graham my website (www.marshland.info) is hosted by by godaddy.com, I find them very cheap and very good. Also, if you listen to the Punky Radio podcast (highly recommended, but don't listen in polite company...), they give you codes you can use to get discounts
Ladders Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I use Supanames Graeme, never had any complaints with them.

MikePMC Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Hey Phil, glad you quoted my post in yours. I noticed I had typed "years and years with trouble". I obviously meant "without". OOPS! Mike
Mark A Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I've been using dataflame for my personal site for years, they are very good on support (done via chat room to a real person). Don't know if they are competitive on price though.
nickrroo Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 www.easily.co.uk Cheap and easy to administer your domain, DNS, MX records etc.
dalepearson Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I use streamline and 34sp depending on what I need. What are your requirements?

GCCK Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I use plus.net ISP and pay an extra £1/month for them to host my domain. Worth seeing what your ISP can offer rather than adding another layer of complication.
Scott_Mac Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 I too use 1and1 and have no issue with them.... that's for 7 accounts from work. If you do sign up with them, could you drop me a PM first....
MattyB Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Someones after the referral bonus Wouldn't touch 1and1 TBH - happy to take your money, not so happy to help or let you go. I used www.regsiter1.net, nothing short of excellent. Based on many happy customers. Lots of reviews and a useful guide here: http://www.ochostreview.co.uk/
