One very sad Greg and Ali :drive:

I dont want to go into too many details on here, but the island in question is junction 7 of the M5.

The young lady has admitted fault (she was with her mum in the car getting slightly lost).

Our elise has been left with a small split in the rear clam above the nearside rear wheel arch, scuff marks and a chunk out of one of my sparkly victories :clap:

We have only just got back in (the car drives perfectly).

Our problem is going to be Le Mans. I dont think there is any chance that the insurance will get it sorted in time for le mans. I dont know if the geo has been knocked out at the rear either.

If i get the car booked into City centre car repairs (or whatever its called) would they supply me with a lotus courtesy car that could be taken to le mans? If thats the case, then our ferry tickets are for my S1 elise and the number plates wouldnt match up.

The car is probably fine to drive, but if the geo was just a slightly knocked out and i do a 1200 mile round trip, i could end up on bald tyres.

I am still going to the run tomorrow (pootle group) so you can give me your thoughts.

Oh, and no one was hurt.

Greg/Ali .... so sorry for you :drive: Can you not get the geo sorted then take the car to France? Obviously if City Centre/insurance company can sort you an Elise then this could be the way to go although from following previous similar threads you, at best, end up with THEIR equivalent and I have seen peploe given Audi TT's, MG's etc. Wouldn't worry about ferry company - they will just change reg/car upon explanation.

Best of luck in sorting.

Greg, you just wanted a full respray after the front the other month!

Sorry to hear about this, but if it's safe to drive it (Chunk out of Victory) then get a geo and take it to Le Mans ....

Are you sure the young lady didn't just fancy an older bloke in a sports car and want a closer look?

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! :)

Gutted for you.

So close to going away aswell!

I think if it were me I would get the car checked/geo'd etc and if all was well I would take it anyway and get it fixed upon return.

Really sorry for you! :(

greg, bad news bud, just get the geo re-done take the car to le mans and sort the paperwork out on your return.....

Its just one of those things i suppose, wrong place at the wrong time.

I didnt inform my insurance this evening, but will give them a call tomorrow.

If i have the geo checked before i go to le mans, i suppose it will just get added to the final bill.

I just hope my insurance wont count it against me for future premiums. They always ask any claims regardless of fault :)

Bloody hell Greg!!!! That is shit! Get the geo checked, if its ok, or can be sorted, just take it and get it sorted when you get home. If you backbox is damaged at all, my Janspeed is coming off on tuesday (2bular will have arrived :)), you can borrow that for the trip.

Cheers for the offer mate, but she only contacted the nearside rear wheel arch.

The damage isnt too bad with about a 1 inch crack in the clam, but no doubt hairline fractures will radiate from this given time.

It will look mint after the repair though!! You just need to get both doors kicked by an insured horse now :)

Nightmare greg. Try and get it sorted for le mans, I ended up in a hire car last year and it just ain't the same. Yr premium shouldn't change, not yr fault, no claim on yr insurance.

Hopefully see you tomorrow mate.

Dunk.

Ouch, unlucky !

All the more reason to use it for Le Mans (assuming it's safe) - give it a bit more time for the damage to appear.

I'd explain it all to your insurance company, along with a letter from your preferred repairer stating that damage could continue appearing for some time, and they can't fit you in yet anyway.

Also, get your repairer to confirm to the insurance people that a geo check is the bare minimum that needs doing immediately to give you confidence to drive it (otherwise you'll be looking for a similar car on her insurance, which will cost them an arm and a leg for the pre-booked tripped that you've already paid for, etc etc).

As for the wheel - I'd get it checked as well.

See you later !

Get the car looked over by them first thing Monday morning (They open about 8am) and make sort it is ok. Geo If needed. City Centre Care Car are good and can get thing done quickly. Last time I used them they did the work (Which I paid for and then claimed back off the other party afterwards, Car was work critical). If you did this They might have your car done by then.

But the answer is no they won't give you a Lotus or any other sports car as a loan car.

Not sure if you hired a Lotus you would be able to claim that cost back when a Ford Kac will get you there and back for half the price.

Not necessarily. The other party has admitted liability. You CAN claim a like-for-like courtesy car under these circumstances, but it can be a bit of a battle (and it obviously pushes everyone's insurance up as well). There's a specialist company that does this. Can't remember then name, but I know it's been done and talked about on MLOC before.

I guess 10 minutes on Google would get you there, Greg !
