MattyB
Going to house party/house warming party tonight in Shrewsbury. Well, I was going... Was looking forward to having a drive down there too, what with the gorgeous evening weather. Pushed the Liz out of the garage, I notice one of my brand new Proxies is flat and has a huge screw through the middle So not only have I got the hassle/cost of getting it repaired, but now I'm all dressed up and have nowhere to go So now I'm going to "do a Scott" and spam the forum tonight. Reckon I can reach 1000 posts by the morning?

MattyB
In the end I didn't have anything to say And all the tyre places I've been to can't fix my tyre Cause they cant jack the car up because its too low. Has anyone here with Nitrons/LSS or whatever had any problems? Bloke said at the local spanner-monkey hideout said that they've done Elises, but none this low, and probably only the dealer/specialist could really do it because none of their equipment can get low enough to lift it. But then they wont repair tyres will they...
JohnnyM
Matty, strange we are both afflicted.... Friday morning about 50 yards from work i got a terrible grinding noise from the front left of the car, so i booked it in with NW to have the wheel bearings done since i had suspected my wheel bearings were on the way anyway. On the way home (with intermittent grating noise) there was a loud clonk and i then had a flat near side rear in my P-Zero. trundled the last 1/3 mile home at about 10mph. Got home and jacked up the car and tooke the wheels off only to find a piece of chicken wire wrapped around the front wish bone fouling everything in sight (hence the noise), but one of the fixings that was attached to it, had come off and i'd driven over it and into the rear tyre. Took the wheel to NW on saturday morning to get an Advan fitted and all is sorted. Booking it in hopefully to get the other three changed ASAP (great way to get rid of the P-Zero's!) Matty, easy way to get them to sort out the car is to take a brick with you and reverse the front wheel onto it, they should then be able to jack it up. (this is my strategy in the garage!) NW were great as ever when i phoned at 9am all was sorted by 11am (most of that time was me driving the wheel to and from my house in worcester) Loaded the wheel onto the car and went for a spin, all sorted...phew... forgot how much better the advans are even though ive only one. Car feels much more solid around right handers than left already !!! Cheers Johnny M
MattyB
One Advan? I've sorted it now, took the tyre off myself and they fixed it. But yeah, I'd get the PZero's off ASAP. Not too bad now the weathers nice, but I found my fronts - which were original, 3+ year old tyres had perished a little, and no real give. Geo + tyres had made a HUGE difference to the way it drives and handles...so much more confidence and balance now. Are you still running 185's front? Might wanna use Horizon for the geo too - £75+VAT instead of NW's £150 (It think?)
JohnnyM
Matty - car has been ok on the P-Zero's as far as they go, never rated the P-zero as a tyre to be honest. understeers too much on the 185 fronts when you've 225's on the back will stick to NW for the geo even though its more expensive than Horizon. MattyB
I'd like to say the 195's were an improvement, but its hard to say when I had new better tyres and a geo aswell...cost me the best part of £350 but was well worth it. Although since I've had my tyre repaired today I went out for a quick blat at half time on the England match and something doesn't feel right bloke put 30psi in so I dropped it to 24 on the front to match the other side but it feels alot lighter on the front now....like steering on a smoother surface... Time to fiddle next weekend again! I think it could do with being geo'd again felt superb for a few month after the geo but these crappy Walsall roads seem to have bounced it out of shape...again.
