shad0w12 Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Hi guys, I have a S2 Elise on a 52 Plate, the dealer insisted my car had the lotus 135 upgrade fitted to it, I have never driven another elise so have no idea if it has - what ways are there to check? Thanks!
stockhome Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 I has the same problem when i purchased my 2002 135 Sport I contacted lotus and the engineer said that a good way to tell if the car has been upgraded is that the inlet manifold and plenum is cast aluminium instead of black plastic on the standard model. Hope this helps I will try to add a photo of mine if i work out how
shad0w12 Posted April 20, 2007 Author Posted April 20, 2007 Thanks! Based on that it looks like mine isnt a 135 as i suspected then!! mines black! not all bad.. means I can upgrade it, thought it was fast as it is :-D Dealers are full of it!
Daniel Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 My S1 had the Lotus 135 kit installed aftermarket, I had an invoice to prove it and it still had the crappy plastic tb so unless they changed that on all of the S2's then I wouldn't take it as gospel.

Thanks! Ask the dealer for proof of his claim ! No Elise owner would have an upgrade like this and throw the receipt away If he can't provide any proof, take it as 'creative marketing'
AnthT Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 I have a 135R* upgrade for sale ally plenum, throttle body, ecu, injectors, fuel rail and all of the sensors *minus the head did you park your car outside of strees' house?

Mine originally had a B&C "super 140" (oooh) conversion fitted by previous owner, £1500, rang B&C to see what it was and they said exhaust and a chip (from BBR). To be honest, I'm glad I hadn't bought it as it was the most useless waste of £1500 I have seen for a long time. Only way to see if it is a B&C 140 conversion is to look at the ECU. You'll also know if it is a B&C conversion as it will perform no differently to an 118 bhp Elise. Winston.

What the difference with the 140 of PTP and main thing.... benefit.... Many posts seem to say on a 120.... a good ITG induction KIt + 52 mm Throttle combined to sport exhaust Line change the engine a lot.... more reaction etc.... and some people recon it push bhp up to 140.... Real thing or Popy coke? Edit: Just to make the post to look right

Real thing or Popy coke? Winston. I believe the B&C 140 conversion was one of the real early conversions offered before proper 135 conversions were available. Certainly my S1 dates back to 1997. The PTP 140 conversion (i believe) comprises some real mods including a ported head (and other induction benefits) which will give an increase in bhp, (whether it gets to 135 bhp, I wouldn't like to comment). In my opinion you cannot get 20 bhp (i.e. raising a 120bhp to 140 bhp) without getting the head off and installing cams or a head port (probably both). At least thats been my experience. Winston.
CHOPPA Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 This is really interesting. I have recently been considering the PTP upgrade here: http://www.ptp-ltd.co.uk/shop/ProductDetai...x?productID=558 . If anyone has any experience of this upgrade or knows anything about it I would be very interested. for 500 squid, it doesn't seem to bad if it does make as much difference as they claim. Cheers A
Steve J Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Speak to Dave Andrews if you want to do any work on the K-series more than bolt on a few ally bits. Decent exhaust, decat (excl VVC variants) and induction should see you very close to 140bhp anyway.
